Michelle Down welcomed everyone to worship at Centralia United Church. Marjorie Johns provided organ accompaniment for the first hymn, God! As with Silent Hearts. She played the piano for the choir anthem Shout Out Your Love. A special surprise by all was accom- paniment by Rob Essery on his sax- ophone. Rev. Michelle met with the chil- dren and young people to talk about the meaning of peace, and their role in helping to achieve it. Together they lit candles for peace. Everyone stood and joined in singing "0 Canada". World of peace Rev. Michelle's sermon focused on remembering those who fought in previous wars in order to create a future world of peace for us to enjoy. She read the names of the 42 Canadian soldiers who have died during their peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, and can- dles were lit in their memory. She recited the meaningful poem "In Flanders Fields". A moment of silence was observed. Rob Essery recited the poem "High Flight".
