Strahl announces
change to wheat board
OTTAWA - Minister of
Agriculture and Agri -
Food and Minister for the
Canadian Wheat Board
Chuck Strahl appointed
Bruce Johnson to the
board of directors of the
Canadian Wheat Board
(CWB) Nov. 1.
"Mr. Johnson's consid-
erable experience in the
grain business will be a
tremendous asset to the
board of directors of the
CWB," says Strahl.
"I am confident that he
will be able to bring new
ideas to the table at this
critical juncture as we
move toward a new envi-
ronment with marketing
choice," Strahl adds.
Johnson holds a bache-
lor of arts in English from
the University of
Manitoba. He has over 20
years experience in the
business end of the grain
industry as a senior exec-
utive with Saskatchewan
Wheat Pool and Ag Pro
Grain. Johnson provides
consulting services to a
wide range of clients in
the rail transportation,
agricultural input and
food processing industries
as well as to the legal and
government sectors.
"I believe the CWB and
its directors must demon-
strate strong leadership
and complete engage-
ment in the process of
preparing the CWB for a
future that includes free-
dom for farmers to mar-
ket their grain as best
they see fit. I am counting
on the commitment of Mr.
Johnson to do this," says
Strahl.
Johnson fills one of two
vacancies among the five
government -appointed
