Desjardine and Becky LaBadie who
were married on Sat., Sept. 23 in
Dresden. Dinner and reception held at
the Wheels Inn, Chatham. The groom
is the son of Ron and Sally Desjardine
of Zurich. Upon return from their hon-
eymoon the couple will be living in
Cambridge.
Congratulations to Diane VanBakel
and Bryan Durand who were married
on Fri., Sept. 22 at St. Joseph Church
in Clinton. The dinner and reception
was held at Hessenland. Bryan is the
son of Ken and Barb Durand of RR 2,
Zurich.
Shelley and Billy Hay of Hensall cele-
brated their 25th Wedding
Anniversary on Sept. 25.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to
Paul Watson who is in the hospital.
The family of Earl Flaxbard celebrat-
ed his 90th birthday on Saturday at the
home of daughter Shirley Cooper and
Ross in Ingersoll. Along with supper,
cake, cards and gifts, Earl received a
lovely photo album filled with pictures
and memories written by several
friends, relatives and neighbours with
stories from the past. The actual date
of Earl's birthday is Sept. 28. We all
wish him a happy day.
The monthly meeting of the
Agricultural Society was held Sept. 21
at the Township Hall with president
Hilda Lansbergen and secretary -trea-
surer Margaret Deichert in charge.
District Eight dinner meets
Oct. 24
District Eight dinner meeting of the
Ontario Association of Agricultural
Societies, which includes the
Agricultural Fairs of Huron and Perth
Counties will be held in Zurich at the
complex on Tues., Oct. 24, hosted by
the Zurich Society. A beef dinner will
be catered by Jerry Rader. at 7 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Saying goodbye to St.
Augustine Church
On Sun., Sept. 24 we attended the
final Mass and Celebration held at St.
Augustine Church officiated by Bishop
Ronald Fabbro and several priests. A
video of past memories and history of
the church was presented. The closing
of this parish is very sad. It was nice
to see Father Paul Mooney who recent-
ly returned from a trip to Rome. After
the presentation about 300 people
were served a delicious meal in the
parish hall.
It was nice that Keith Westlake was
able to spend the past couple months
at his home in Zurich. He has now
returned to the Villa in Exeter for the
winter.
The family of Jean Geoffrey enjoyed
Sunday Brunch at Erb's Country
Kitchen.

St. Boniface Catholic Women's
League held their meeting for the fall
with a pot luck supper in the parish
hall on Sept. 19 following Mass which
was attended by 25 ladies and Father
Peter.
President Debbie Pennings welcomed
everyone and Theresa Kester read the
minutes of the last meeting. Kathleen
Roulston read the correspondence. Pat
Meidinger gave the treasurer's report,
Janet and Bella Soudant gave a report
on education and family life. Twenty-
five year pins were given to Cheryl
Gelinas, Janet Soudant, Vicki Wilder
and Rose -Mary Ducharme. Fifty-year
pins went to Doreen Dietrich and
Mary -Lou Denomme.

was smashed Sept. 8. and a purse
and credit cards were stolen and
used in Exeter. The OPP have the
