GRAND BEND — The Huron Country Playhouse
rocked out to "The Buddy Holly Story" opening night,
July 27.
The non-stop rock till you drop concert style play
kept everyone on their toes during the two-hour pro-
duction directed by Adam Furfaro with the assistance
of Dave Campbell.
The performance takes the audience on a musical
journey outlining Holly's short but successful career
starting in Texas playing country to rocking and
rolling around the world.
Holly, played by 25 -year-old Vancouver Island native
Zachary Stevenson naturally portrays the music leg-
end, making it obvious Stevenson was a great pick for
the role.
The play, focusing on Holly's earli-
er days with the Crickets, included
many renditions of Holly's greatest
hits like "Peggy Sue," "That'll Be The
Day," "Not Fade Away," "Rave On,"
and many more.
Appearances were also made by
the Big Bopper, singing "Chantilly
Lace," and Ritchie Valens with "La
Bamba" and "Why Do Fools Fall In
Love."

LUCAN BID-
DULPH — The
former Petro

Lucan will either
become a park
or parkette.
Lucan
Biddulph council
was informed
the building is
not usable and
any recommen-
dations regard-
ing the future of
the building
would be
denied.
Deputy Mayor
Perry
Caskanette
would like to
know how much
it will cost to
remove the
building.
Council spoke
briefly as to
what the site
should become.
No decision was
made.
There will be
more discussion
at a future coun-
cil meeting, to
decide if a park

be more suitable
for the site.

seen about 125-
150 children per

The ice is
being used
about 61 hours
a week, seven

Fire update
The fire bud-
get is in good
standing and
fire calls are
lower than nor-
mal for Lucan
Biddulph.
Council
reminds resi-
dents to notify

ment before

This has been

The cast shone with musical talent. Music director
Robert Foster deserves much credit.
Aadin Church, in particular, who took on several
roles, nailing every single one, was brilliant.
This play is an excellent interpretation of Holly's life,
involving the audience throughout the show.
The performance makes you feel as if you went on
the roller coaster rock 'n' roll ride with Holly.
And when singer Church recalls the day the music
died, the day Holly, only 22 years old, the Big Bopper
and Valens died in a plane crash in America's Midwest
in 1959, it truly feels as if you've just lost your best
friend.
This production promises a good time for everyone,
Holly fan or not.
"The Buddy Holly Story" runs until Aug. 12. Eighty
per cent of the tickets are sold out.
