Flowers were placed in the sanctuary in memory of Marilyn Kalbfleisch. The community's thoughts and prayers go out to Charles and family. Pastor Elly talked to the children about the greatest com- mandment "Thou shalt Love the Lord, your God with all your heart, body and soul" Church will be in Goshen Sun., Oct. 30. The Sunday School class will be going to Brucefield for a tour of the fire hall with Brucefield school. They will be leaving after the children's story. Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. is the Ecumenical Service celebrating 20 -years of service by the Women's Shelter in Goderich. Nov. 6 will be the Remembrance Day service in Varna . Congrats to the following students who graduated at Commencement on Fri., Oct. 7 at Clinton Central Secondary School: Melissa Sparling entering Guelph University, Jentje Steenbeek entering Toronto University, Sarah Broadfoot is going to Fanshawe College in London. Bill Orr and David Ratcliffe also graduated. Awards were given to Kyle Courtney, Melissa Sparling, Sarah Broadfoot and Jentje Steenbeek. Melissa Sparling was also an Ontario Scholar. Genelle Reid received honours in grade nine, Robin Taylor grade 10 honours, Jennifer Keys and Cameron Laurie received grade 11 honours and Cassandra Postill received a grade 10 award. Congrats to all these stu- dents in your future endeavours. Rug hooking course to be held Nov 28 GRAND BEND - Ingrid Hayter, Grand Bend, demon- strated the making of a Christmas gift bag and two styles of Christmas cards at the October meeting of the Grand Bend Women's Institute. Using Ingrid's stamps and paper the ladies created their own cards and bag. Everyone enjoyed the craft session. During the business meeting members learned that the farmer's market was successful and the mechani- cal lift for the Adult Day Care is now paid for. Several Quincy storybooks will be ordered from headquarters. This is the story of the teddy bear and his quilt. A rughooking course will be held Nov. 28 from 9-2. Enrolment is limited. Contact Cass Lovie at 238 2727 by Nov. 7 if you are interested in taking this one -day course. Projects for the Ontario Conference at Fanshawe College next August were reviewed. Several members will visit the Grand Bend Adult Day Centre on Nov. 7 to discuss and demonstrate their handiwork such as knitting, quilting, tatting and crocheting. A Fall Rally and London Area Convention report was given. President Cass Lovie conducted a memorial tribute to the late Eva Allister. Eva had been a member of Grand Bend Women's Institute for 53 years. A lighting of a candle, an appropriate reading and a minute of silence was observed. The Grand Bend Women's Institute will entertain at the Blue Water Rest Home on Nov. 13. A completed quilt top will be quilted and sold in the near future. The next Women's Institute meeting is Nov. 17 and they'll learn what to do if your wallet is lost or stolen. Official material concerning this important issue will be distributed. Presbyterial Fall Rally in Croma CROMARTY — Cromarty Presbyterian Church was colourfully deco- rated for the Huron -Perth Presbyterial Rally Sept. 28. The theme was "Go In My Name Because You Believe." Janet Gibson, 2nd vice-presi- dent welcomed 58 members and guests fol- lowed by the Call to Worship. Lillian Sparling wel- comed everyone on behalf of the Session of Cromarty Church and Pauline Lindsay, POLICE BRIEF Bike Stolen EXETER — On Oct. 14 a youth contact- ed police over the theft of a bike. The offi- cer learned the youth had left his bike in the schoolyard at Exeter Public School that afternoon. When the youth came out of school a 20 - inch oversized blue/silver 18 speed CCM Raleigh moun- tain bike was missing. President of the South Western Synodical brought greet- ings. Sally Scott gave the book report on behalf of Lois Horne and showed how a member had made paja- mas out of t - shirts. Malawi greeting cards were on sale, CO 0 7 7 0 with the money going to the women of Malawi. Area educa- tional consultant Rev. Anne Yee - Hibbs spoke on the next two- year study book, "World Without Aids." A video "God Is So Good" is available at the Book Room.
