Fury finish with win EXETER - The Exeter Fury ended their season Oct. 2 in Exeter by picking up a win without playing a game. The visiting Curinga team decided to return home instead of playing the game as it was a meaningless game for both squads. The referee was late getting to the field and just as he was arriving Curinga was heading to the parking lot. The Fury will pick up a forfeit win of 3-0 which will bring their record to the season to 6-7-3 and fifth place. "We had a good season and improved a lot over last year," stated team spokesman Jason McFalls. "We added a number of new players and cut our goals against down 60 per cent from last season which was the biggest reason for our turnaround," McFalls added. Panthers in Goderich EXETER - The South Huron District High School junior girls bas- ketball team played a good game against St. annes but lost 24-18. Julie Roberts and Marlee Baehnisch each had four points and Maired O'Rourke had three. Brittany Britton and Chantelle Vincent also played well, said coach Terry O'Rourke. The team defeated Madill 37-32 in the first game of the Goderich tournament on Oct. 1. Roberts had eight points, followed by Kelsey Hern with six and Britton and O'Rourke with five each. In their second game, the Panthers lost to an excellent East Elgin team, the eventual tour- nament winners. Baehnisch had nine points and Hodgins had four. In the consolation final the team came back from an early deficit but narrowly lost 33-30 to Goderich. Roberts led the way with eight points and O'Rourke, Britton and Kristene Hendrick each added four points. Overall the team played well and it was a fun day, said coach O'Rourke who added well done to all team members. lawn bowling tuesday, sept. 27, 200 Jim Chapman 2W23 Marg Consitt 2W23 Bill Mickle 2W20 Marg Deichert 2W17 Marshall Dearing 1W13 Marg Knight 1W13 Mike Underhill 1W13 Brad Claus 1W11 Fran McCallum 1W11 FranMickle 1W10 Pauline Simmons 1W10 Saturday, Oct.
