World wide communion Sunday celebrated

THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT
THAMES ROAD — Rev. Alun Thomas was in
charge of the World Wide Communion Sunday
Church Service on Sunday morning.
The introit was sung and Rev. Thomas lit the
Christ Candle and gave words of welcome and the
announcements, people shook hands.
Rev. Thomas led in the Call To Worship respon-
sively.
The Hymn of Gathering "This Day God Gives Me"
was sung.
Rev. Thomas led in the Prayer of
Approach and Confession of Sin in
unison and Words of Assurance responsively.
Rev. Thomas led in the Affirmation of Faith "A
New Creed" in unison.
Everyone sang the children's hymn "All Things
Bright and Beautiful" and Rev. Thomas told the
youth a story and had everyone singing "Wonderful
Me" while accompanying on the guitar.
Beth Cooper sang the verses, the choir sang the
choruses and Sharon Lynn read "Do In
Remembrance Of Me" accompanied by the organist
Marilyn Vandenbussche which was very fitting for
the communion service.
The first scripture Exodus 20: 1-4, 7-9, 12-20 was
read by Rev. Thomas. Psalm 19 was read respon-
sively.
Rev. Thomas read the gospel lesson Matthew 21:
23-46, and gave a very inspiring message.
Helen Weston gave a Minute For Mission entitled
"Learning And Sharing".
Karen Etherington and Sharon Passmore received
the offering and Helen Weston took an item forward
for the food bank. Everyone sang the communion
hymn "I Come With Joy" and Rev. Thomas led in the
communion with Karen Etherington, Judith Parker
and Sharon Passmore serving communion.
The closing hymn "Sent Forth By God's Blessing"
was sung.
Rev. Thomas gave the Commissioning and pro-
nounced the Benediction and everyone sang the
closing chorus.

Award-winning book
Grand Bend Women's Institute president Cass Lovie,
left, recently presented "Quincy and His Quilt: A
Northern Adventure" to Grand Bend librarian
Marlene Desjardine.This book tells the story of
Tekla, a young medical doctor in Canada's far North
and her inseparable partner Quincy, a brown teddy
bear. Together they face a long journey across the
tundra to save the life of an Inuit baby in a remote
Arctic community.The story was the winning entry
in a competition sponsored by the Federated
Women's Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) as a special
feature of their inaugural provincial Quilt Show,

open at 6 p.m. to view live and silent auction items

"Out -At -Camp -Weekend", a joint project of Camps
Bimini and Menesetung. From Sat., Oct. 22 at 9 a.m.

Perth Presbytery to gather together to play, to eat, to
learn, to share, to teach and to be. Cost: $50. per

Hospital on Monday after having been brought from
University Hospital, London previously. Get well
