The Times Advocate, 2005-06-29, Page 18Crossroads 18 Wednesday June 29, 2005 Exeter Times Advocate St. Patrick's Parish in Lucan celebrates 150 years St. Patrick's Parish in Lucan is 150 years -old and the congregation celebrated the mile- stone last weekend with two outdoor masses, a Saturday night dance and a Sunday afternoon filled with food, fun and local entertainment. Above: St. Patrick's Church is located on the corner of the Roman Line and Highway 4. It's one of the cornerstones of Lucan and Biddulph Township. Twenty-six priests have served in the parish over its 150 year history. The longest -serving priest (25 years) was Father James Mackesy. More than 1,000 people participat- ed in the weekend cele- bration. Parishoners are hoping the show of sup- port will convince the Roman Catholic diocese of the church's viability and prevent its potential closure due to cutbacks.
