For the week ending April
29, total receipts were 4,482
head of cattle, 904 lambs and
goats.
Summary
Tuesday: The fed steers and
heifers sold on a strong active
trade. Choice steers and heifers
sold 87 to 92 sales to 104.75,
second cut steers and heifers
sold 82 to 86. The cows traded
at steady prices.
Thursday: The veal sold on a
strong active trade while the
lambs traded at prices steady
to last week.
Friday: All weights and class-
es of stockers sold on a strong
active trade.
Steers
There were 698 steers on
offer.
Don McAlpine, Ailsa Craig
consigned one black steer
weighing 1510 lbs which sold
for 104.75. His overall offering
of 76 steers averaged 1530 lbs
selling for an average price of
90.58.
Twenty-five steers consigned
by Chad Fischer, Brussels aver-
aged 1431 lbs which sold for an
average price of 94.47 with his
top five limo steers averaging
1491 lbs selling for 98.50.
Darren Johnston, Brussels
consigned two black steers
averaging 1345 lbs which sold
for an average price of 95.42
with sales to 97.75.
Heifers There were 412 heifers
on offer.
David Bowles, Brussels con-
signed two limo heifers averag-
ing 1333 lbs which sold for
97.25. His overall offering of
five heifers averaged 1276 lbs
selling for an average price of
89.98.
Five heifers consigned by
Andy VanderVeen, Blyth aver-
aged 1299 lbs which sold for an
average price of 90.44 with his
top limo heifer weighing 1260
lbs selling for 97.25.
Merlkey Farms, Wroxeter
consigned 14 limo heifers aver-
aging 1324 lbs which sold for
an average price of 92.15 with
sales to 95.25.
Cows There were 260 cows on
offer.

cow weighing 1060 lbs which
sold for 43.
Five hol cows consigned by

one limo cow weighing 1323
lbs which sold for 39.50.
Bulls
There were 11 bulls on offer
selling 19.50 to 39 sales to 48.

consigned one blonde bull
weighing 1835 lbs which sold
to Dominion Meat Packers for

Denfield Livestock sees steady prices
DENFIELD - The market at Denfield Livestock
Sales traded at steady prices on all classes of fed
cattle with the fancy cattle bringing a premium.
A good offering of cows sold actively at stronger
prices, stockers steady, pigs, sows and boars
steady.
Ross and Henry Duff, Croton sold 17 steers
average weight 1400, average price 93.40 with
sales to 98.50 purchased by Norwich Packers.
Jack Smith, Tilbury sold 32 steers average
weight 1350, average price 90.70 with sales to
97.25 purchased by Norwich Packers.
Frank Byrne, Chatham sold seven head aver-
age weight 1221, average price 89.94 sales to
91.75.
Bill and Mary Margaret McDonald, Thamesville
sold six head average weight 1386, average price
87.89.
Don Eedy and Mark Vanderploeg, Denfield sold
18 heifers average weight 1427, average price
88.98 sales to 93.50.

An April snow storm on the weekend of the 23, followed by constant rainfall, has
caused the Ausable River to swell. Alec Scott, with the Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Authority says up until that point, the water level had been below
normal. Scott says there's nothing to be concerned about. However, he cautions
parents and guardians to keep children and pets away from the river to avoid any
