They competed in Provincials in Mississauga in the PeeWee "B" classification and finished in fourth after being defeated in the bronze medal game by Tiverton I-0. (photo/submitted) Huron Hurricanes attend Waterloo meet WATERLOO — Ten swimmers from The Huron Hurricanes attended the Spring Turbocharge Meet in Waterloo April 2. This meet kicked off the Hurricanes long course swim season. It was held at the Wilfrid Laurier 50 metre pool. Many swimmers posted personal best times with Christy I-Iartman of IIensall and Taylor Mattucci of Exeter earning ribbons in their events. At eight years old, Mikayla Pettapiece of Zurich was the youngest swimmer attending the event. Their times were as follows: Christy Hartman -16 and over backstroke, 3:09.03; 50 breaststroke, 47.9; 200 breast- stroke3:34.99, 50 butterfly 37.38; 400 freestyle, 6:01.14. Taylor Mattucci-11 and under 50 freestyle, 35.68; 400 freestyle, 6:53.04; 200 backstroke, 3:33.02; 100 breaststroke, 1:51.68; 50 butterfly, 46.60. Mikayla Pettapiece 11 and under -50 freestyle, 1:07.11; 50 backstroke, 1:19.29;50 breaststroke, 1:49.38; 50 butterfly, 1:42.09. The club will have a swim-a-thon, fundraiser April 28 from 4:30 to 7p.m. where swimmers com- plete 200 lengths in two hours (or as many as possi- ble). MARYS — Zurich's Trevor Lansbergen won the three game pins over average Bluewater Association Booster Zone rolloffs April 17 in St. Marys. Lansbergen bowled an 821 triple to win the title with 149 pins above his 224 Zurich league average. He now advances to the Ontario Five Pin Bowlers Association Provincial Championship May 28 at Welland, Ontario. Thirty eight bowlers from Bluewater, which covers bowling centres from Owen Sound and Meaford in the north to Zurich and St. Marys in the south, participated in the zone rolloffs at St. Marys. All Canadian Five Pin Association rules will be in effect at the provincial competition with the Ontario cham- pion being decided by bowling the most pins over their highest league average.
