Wednesday, April 27, 2005 Exeter Times–Advocate 19 Zurich's Blessings Community Store celebrated its 20th anniversary April 23 with an open house with snacks, refreshments and a quilt draw. Pearl Keupfer started the store in a house on Goshen Line in 1985 and moved it to its current location on Main Street later that year. (photo/Scott Nixon) Bluewater gets investment VARNA — Bluewater was the recipient of funding for its water infrastructure under the Canada -Ontario Infrastructure Program, in an annoucemnt made April 15 in Zurich., At a press conference with Huron - Bruce MP Paul Steckle, Huron Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell and Bluewater Mayor Bill Dowson, it was announced the funding would upgrade 12 well sup- ply systems. Improvements to the water system will include upgrades to the Carriage Lane and Harbour Lights well supplies with water quality analyzers, chlorine alarm systems and flow measuring devices. The Zurich Well Supply will be upgraded with chlorine and turbididty analyzers, and water flow metres with the pumphouses, reservoir and high lift station protected against flooding. The Hensall Well Supply may be con- nected to the Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System. Eight wells will also be decommis- sioned. The upgrades will bring the municipal water system into compliance with the Ontario Drinking Water Systems Regulation. The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario will each con- tribute up to $608,205 to the project with Bluewater investing the balance of the project's total eligible cost of $1,824,615.
