Wildcats take 1-0 lead on Jets
LUCAN - The Lucan
Ilderton Jets are down 1-
0 to the Monkton Wildcats
following game one of the
Senior A semi finals.
The Wildcats edged the
Jets 6-5 in overtime
Saturday night in Lucan.
Lucan Ilderton general
manager Rob Andrews
said discipline was a
problem for the team in
game one.
"You can't play from the
penalty box, " said
Andrews, but added it
would be a long series.
"They never quit, they
just kept coming at us
and we weren't very dis-
ciplined." said Andrews.
The Jets were up 2-1
after one period on goals
by Jason Wilson and
Craig Black.
It was 4-4 after two
periods with Andy
Marshall and Wilson scor-
ing for the Jets.
The teams were dead-
locked at five apiece after
three periods, with Black
adding his second of the
game.
Lucan Ilderton Jet Jason Wilson scores his second goal of the game Saturday night
in Lucan against Monkton. It wasn't enough, as the Wildcats edged the Jets 6-5 in
overtime to take a 1-0 lead in their series. (photo/ Stephanie Mandziuk)
The Jets held a 5-4 lead
with under five minutes to
go but couldn't hang on
for the win as Monkton
tied it with 4:28 left in the
game.
It took only a minute
and a half of overtime for
the Wildcats to finish it,
as the Jets had what
Andrews described as a
"total collapse" in their
own end.
Lucan will try to tie the
series Thursday night in
Monkton with game three
Saturday night in Lucan
at 8:30 p.m.
