New Shoppers open Thursday
By Scott Nixon
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
EXETER — At nearly
three times the size of
the old store, Exeter's
new Shoppers Drug Mart
opens Thursday morn-
ing.
The new store, at the
corner of highways 83
and 4, offers 13,500 sq.
ft., compared to the old
location's 5,500 sq. ft.
The added space, part of
Shoppers' new design,
allows the store to offer
many services and prod-
ucts it couldn't before.
The expansion has also
seen the store grow from
25 employees at the old
store to 40-45 at the
new one.
"It's a very impressive
store," owner/pharma-
cist Eric Post told the
Times -Advocate.
"Exeter's very lucky."
Post has been with
Shoppers for about three
years, but just joined the
Exeter location in
December.
The new store features
a completely re -designed
pharmacy with a waiting
area and a private coun-
selling area, which Post
says will be a great
advantage because staff
will be able to talk to

customers privately.
The store's Healthy
Living section features
herbal products, vita-
mins and organic foods
and drinks, including
soy -based milk.
The store's cosmetics
department is also
expanded, carrying lines
of products the store
hasn't in the past. Post
said the store will be
able to do skin analyzing
to help customers with
their make-up selec-
tions.
Another new focus for
the company, Post said,
is the baby food section.
The card section is also
expanded, as is the mag-
azine and book selection
at the front of the store.
A new photo lab will
offer one-hour photo
processing on-site,
another new feature for
the store. A Kodak pic-
ture maker allows digi-
tal camera users the
ability to bring in their
memory cards and print
off their photos.
Another new feature is
the expanded grocery
section, which will fea-
ture milk, juice, eggs,
cheese, sandwich meats,
bread, soups, cereals, a
frozen food section, ice
cream and desserts.
The new store hours
for Shoppers are
Monday to Friday, 8
a.m. to 10 p.m.;
Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8
p.m.; and Sunday from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours
will remain the same on
holidays.
"It's all about conve-
nience," Post said.
The official grand
opening for the store
will be held Saturday at
8 a.m.
