Leading up to the Wednesday playoff game South Huron played their final league game on Monday against St. Mary's. It was a dominant effort - by the South Huron boys as they easily defeated the Salukis 54 - 23. All members of the team provided an excel- lent effort on the court both defensively and offensively. Top scorers in the game were Shawn Morgan with 16 points, Tyler Knip eight and Brent Johns and Lachlan Macgregor with seven. South Huron finished tied for fourth in the final standings with Central Huron and Stratford Central. This put them up against a strong Northwestern squad in the huron-perth playoffs Wednesday in Listowel. South Huron came out flying and developed an early lead. Northwestern fired back with their own run and evened the score and eventually pulled slightly ahead. The game continued to go back and forth with great intensity by both sides. As the game began to wind down Northwestern pulled ahead by 10 but the Panthers would not give up and fought back to within three. It came down to a dra- matic finish as South Carpet Bowling Feb. 18 Marshall Dearing Susan Underhill John Batten Cathy Bell Feb. 21 Marshall Dearing June Hodgson Audrey MacGregor Bill Sullivan Marion Dearing Mike Underhill Ray Hodgson Jean Estey Bob Patterson Feb. 25 Audrey MacGregor Marion Dearing Marshall Dearing Jean Estey 3W-37 3W-33 2W-24 2W-22 2WIT-28 2W25 2W24 2W21 2W20 2W20 1WIT21 2W-18 2W-14 3W-29 2W-20 2W-20 2W-18 Huron recovered a turnover and had the opportunity to tie the game. Shawn Morgan attempt- ed a three- pointer to tie the game but unfortunate- ly it was not to be his day of glory as the ball rimmed out. The boys left everything on the court and finished with no excuses. It was not to be their day but they finished the season on a high note with an excellent overall effort that was extremely entertaining and competi- tive. Coach Henry Bonsma said the boys were a dedi- cated group who made practicing and playing games a pleasure to coach. He added they should be proud of their progress on the court and as young men. They bonded and grew as a team throughout the year and well done boys, said Bonsma. NOVICE RINGETTE Feb. 22 Exeter 6 Forest Blue 2 Goals: Kennedy Warren [3], Jenna Dawson [2], Alexa Sereda.
