(photo/submitted) World Day of Prayer on Mar. 4 By Liz Sangster HENSALL CORRESPONDENT HENSALL — The Hensall Guides, Brownies, and Sparks attended morning worship at Hensall United Church, marking the anniversary of Thinking Day. The Hensall Fire Department and Hensall Community Development Action Committee want to thank everyone who attended the pancake breakfast Feb. 14. Special thanks to Metzgers and Heyinks for their donation of ham and eggs and for donations given by people unable to attend; all dona- tions were gratefully received. Easter bonnets in the making Tues., Mar. 8 By Rhoda Rohde THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT THAMES ROAD — Sharon Passmore intro- duced Rev. Alun Thomas from the pulpit. Rev. Thomas of Kirkton was the minister in charge of the third Sunday of Lent church service on Sunday morning. The Lenten Introit was sung. Rev. Thomas gave the welcome and the announcements, Passing of the Peace with people shaking hands. Rev. Thomas led in the Call to Worship responsively and the Prayer of Confession in unison. Corey Smith lit the Lenten Candles and Rev. Thomas and Smith read the Lenten Liturgy and then Smith snuffed out four of the candles. Rev. Thomas told the youth about Repentance and Jonah. Rev. Thomas accompanied himself on the guitar and sang About the Big Fish. The choir sang 0 Lord Have Mercy On Me accompanied by Jean Hodgert at the piano Rev. Panther Profile EXETER — Last Friday at South Huron we had a wonderful assembly put on by the Music Department put on for the entire school. The Senior Concert band and the Black Jazz band played songs that they will be playing for Musicfest Regionals in London this week. At Musicfest, the bands play their three pieces for the adjudicators, then go into a half hour clinic with one adjudicator to improve on anything the adjudicator thought was a weak spot in the piece. So now you REALLY know what hap- pens when the bands leave for Musicfest. If you see a member of the band in the hall this week, give them a high five. Thomas spoke about Scripture John 4:7-41. The title of his sermon was 'Like She's Someone He Knows'. He sang about the sermon, `Woman At The Well'. 0 Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go was sung. Sharon Passmore and Helen Kadey received the offering. Guide Me 0 Thou Great Jehovah was sung. Rev. Thomas gave the Commissioning in Welsh and pronounced the Benediction. Personals Over 300 people attend- ed the chicken dinner at SHRC Exeter on Sunday evening. Quite a number of peo- ple from this area attend- ed the Covenanting Service at Arva United Church for Rev. Marilyn Carter Sunday evening. The offering was received by Al Hoggarth and Frank Varley. The organist for the service was Joyce Pepper. At Hensall United Church the service began with welcome and announcements followed by the passing of the peace. Janice and Garry Alderdice greeted every- one. Mona and Vern Alderdice looked after the ushering duties. Pastor Darke's message was `Swimming in living water'. Lucielle Beer and Lauren and Maggie Jinks were on hand to look after the nursery.
