ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - The Exeter
Synchronized Skating Club
will be having their family
and friends Showcase at
the Recreation Centre
Sun., Feb. 6 from 6 to 7
p.m.
The four teams will
skate their programs that
they will be skating in the
competitions coming up.
There will also be a sur-
prise soloist skater and a
50/50 draw.
Several people from
Zurich and area attended
the Canadian
Championship Skating
held at the John Labatt's
Centre in London all last
week. It was a thrill for me
to be able to be there all
day last Thursday and see
all the famous skaters out
on the ice. It is really more
exciting than watching it
at home on T.V. This same
big event will be held in
Ottawa next year. I even
got Jennifer Robsons auto-
graph.
Thank you
The Zurich Minor
Athletic Association would
like to thank Ron Dickert
of Exeter for donating part
of his winnings from the
50/50 draw worth $235 at
the recent
Buckeyes/Sherwood game
in Zurich back to the
Minor Athletic Association.
Happy birthday wishes

Sligtenhorst who celebrat-
ed his 60th birthday on
Jan. 25 with a surprise
party from his wife Joan
and a few neighbours.
Also happy birthday to
twins Shawna and Lukas
Ducharme who are eight
years old on Jan. 29. They
are the children of Fred
and Marianne Ducharme
of RR 2, Zurich.
Just a reminder for any-
one wanting a ride to
Hensall to do their bank-
ing: the bus leaves
Maplewoods and Blue
Water Rest Home Thurs.,
Jan. 27 at 9:15 and main
corner in Zurich at 9:30
a.m. The next ride is Feb.
11.
Best wishes for a speedy
recovery to Bill Watson
and Ed Smith who are
home recuperating from
being in the hospital last
week.
Bridal show
Sun., Jan. 23 was a nice
sunny drive to London
(after the storm on
Saturday) where I attend-
ed the lovely bridal show
at the Convention Centre
along with my daughter
Renee Sweeney. Renee is
engaged to Alex Letchford
and they are being mar-
ried in September
We saw a great fashion
show along with over 120
exhibitors for the occasion.
It was nice to see a display
there from Hessenland of
St. Joseph with Frank
Ihrig and fashions from
Bridal Elegance of Exeter.
It was a very nice day.
The Kindergarten chil-
dren to Grade 5 students
of St. Boniface School
along with Precious Blood
students in Exeter trav-
elled to Mt. Carmel School
by bus last Friday to par-
ticipate in an interactive
musical presentation,
showing the children how
to treat others with
respect and not go around
bullying people. The older
grades will be doing this
later on in the spring.

Car sideswiped
BLUEWATER - On Jan. 17 at 7:45
p.m., a vehicle was sideswiped on
London Road in Bluewater.
The driver of the vehicle, a white four
door 1995 Pontiac, had stopped on
London Road just south of the intersec-
tion of Centennial Road, south of
Brucefield. While the vehicle was
stopped on the side of the road, a full
size transport trailer unit with a white
cab struck the driver's side of the car,
damaging it from the back to the front.
The 49 -year-old male driver from South
Huron told police the truck failed to stop
and kept traveling southbound on London
Road. Huron OPP is looking to speak with
the driver of the transport. If anyone can
help in solving this crash please call the
OPP or Crimestoppers.
