Brussels Livestock Market report
For the week ending Jan. 21,
total receipts were 1,788 head
of cattle, 368 lambs and goats.
Summary
Tuesday: The fed steers and
heifers sold on an active steady
market. Choice steers and
heifers sold 87 to 92 sales to
102.25, 2nd cut steers and
heifers sold 78 to 84. The cows
traded barely steady.
Thursday: The veal sold on a
good active trade with prices
steady to last week. The lambs
also sold actively on a steady
market.
Friday: The steer calves sold
$2 to $5 higher while the heifer
calves traded steady. The year-
lings sold at prices $3 to $5
higher.
Steers
There were 332 steers on
offer.
Reuben B. Martin, St
Clements consigned fifteen limo
steers averaging 1527 lbs
which sold for an average price
of 98.09 with sales up to
100.75.
Nine blonde steers consigned
by Jesse Martin Jr, Linwood
averaged 1319 lbs which sold
for 98. His overall offering of
twenty-six steers averaged
1441 lbs selling for an average
price of 95.92.
Seventeen black steers con-
signed by Ray Simpson,
Glencoe averaged 1396 lbs
which sold for an average price
of 92.27 with sales up to 96.25.
Heifers
There were 175 heifers on
offer.
John Martin, Lucknow con-
signed one limo heifer weighing
1220 lbs which sold for 102.25.
His overall offering of twelve
heifers averaged 1340 lbs sell-
ing for an average price of
94.63.
Three limo heifers consigned
by M -R Farms, Exeter aver-
aged 1237 lbs which sold for
96.75. Their overall offering of
eight heifers averaged 1278 lbs
selling for an average price of
93.02.
Cows
There were 135 cows on
offer. D1 & D2: 15-20 sales to
32; D3: 12-15; D4: 7-11.
One limo cow consigned by
K.C. McAlpine, Ailsa Craig
weighed 1450 lbs which sold
for 26.50.
Klaas Antuma, Owen Sound
consigned one hol cow weigh-
ing 1325 lbs which sold for
26.50.
Bulls
There were 3 bulls on offer
selling 21.50-25 sales to 39.50.
Blake Lotten, Ripley con-
signed one limo bull weighing
2165 lbs which sold for 39.50.

There were 140 head of veal
