SH Novice Kincardine Silver Stick champions
KINCARDINE - The
South Huron Novice
team won the Kincardine
Silver Stick tournament
on the weekend to
advance to the
International Silver Stick
Jan. 28-30 in St. Clair
Shores, Michigan.
South Huron defeated
Tavistock 3-0, BCH 6-0,
Kincardine 2-1 in the
semifinal and Listowel 5-
1 in the final.
The team lost only one
game to Listowel 5-2.
The semifinal game
was a fast skating game
with South Huron taking
the lead 1-0 midway
through the second peri-
od.
The kids took a 2-0
lead late in the game
before the locals made it
2-1 with less than a
minute left.
It was a great game
played by all.
In the final game the
kids were determined to
get revenge for an earli-
er 5-2 loss to Listowel,
which were previously
unbeaten for the season.
After a scoreless first
period Listowel scored
early in the second.
The result of the goal
seemed to make the kids
more determined as they
came right back and tied
it.
South Huron scored
two more goals before
the end of the second
period to take a 3-1 lead
into the third.
There was no let up by
the players as they con-
tinued to dominate with
another couple of goals
in the third.
The final shot total was
20-8 for South Huron.
Trainer Brian Horner
said thanks again to the
team for all the enter-
tainment and excite-
ment.
The team in turn would
thanks all the parents
and grandparents for
their support. Way to go
champs.

Managers Comments: It was
quite exciting to play in London.
We all got to watch a London
Knights game afterward. The
kids were a little disappointed
that they didn't get to actually
talk to or get autographs from
the Knights themselves. Maybe
next time.
