Campaign raises awareness Grade I2 South Huron District High School student Sonya McGoey has taken a vow of silence to raise money and awareness for homelessness. Her campaign ends Dec. 5. (photo/Scott Nixon) Continued from front page Hunger.' She tried a similar cam- paign a couple of years ago at a different school, but was discour- aged by her classmates. At South Huron, McGoey said people have been supporting her and teachers have shown respect towards her idea. She said she's even gained a lot of new friends since she start- ed her campaign. For McGoey, who admits she's used to talking a lot, remaining silent has been difficult and she's looking forward to Dec. 5 when she can start talking again. She adds her grades will probably improve once her silence ends. McGoey, who stayed at the London homeless shelter a couple of years ago, said she simply wants to help out. Her donation will be a surprise to the shelter, as she hasn't told them of it yet. "We're so used to having every- thing ... but what if you don't have it?" If you'd like to help donate money, food or clothing for McGoey's campaign, call the high school at 235-0880. , ka Mere et 41- Antiques of ,«- Primitives Original Paint & Pine Pieces Vintage Christmas Items JOIN US FOR OUR RED DOT SALE NOW ON Margie & Nicole - 227-4160 Take Hwy #4 south to LUCAN Turn left on Saintsbury Line go 7 km to #35252 UNIC \S lit M HuNON PARKING NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF SOUTH HURON The Municipality of South Huron requests the cooperation of the ratepayers regarding the parking of cars and other vehicles, and the depositing of snow on municipal roads during the period in which snow clearing operations are necessary.
