Triathlon raises nearly $3,000
Juniors lose two close games
ILDERTON - The
Crediton junior girls team
lost two very close games
to the Ilderton squad this
week.
Both game
victories were
decided in the
seventh inning
with Crediton
being on the
losing end.
Evenly -
matched defen-
sive and offen-
sive games
were a joy to
watch with
several 3 -up -3 down
innings.
In the first 4-3 Ilderton
game, Janelle Dykstra led
her team at the plate with
two singles. Single hits
came from the bats of
Megan Preszcator, Nikki
Cyr, Jessica Davies, Kerri
Fulton, Jessica Bray and
Margaret Geurts.
Carie
Pertschy
had great
range in the
fielding
position.
Bray was
the starting
pitcher with
one strike-
out with
relief from
Pertschy Carrie
Dixon also with
one strikeout.
Carie
host team.
A two -run second inning
allowed the local team to
take the lead
but a strong
seventh inning
by Ilderton was
Crediton's
demise.
Allyson
Squire and
Carie Pertschy
played superbly
on second base.
Amber
n Squire Preszcator led
her team at the
plate with a triple and sin-
gle. Jessica Bray pounded
out a triple while single
hits came from the bats of
Janelle Dykstra, Katelyn
Squire, Rachel Michielsen
and Annette Grotentraast.
Jessica Bray and
Katelyn Squire demon-
strated a crowd -pleasing
strategic play in field.
Carrie Dixon was again
consistent on the mound
notching one strikeout.

A see -saw game until
the seventh inning saw
some great defensive
catches and plays by the
Seventy-three participants took part in last Sunday's David Daters Memorial Iron
Kids Triathlon, helping raise just under $3,000 for the oncology floor at the
Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. Organizer Deb Oke said Monday night

Singles district playdowns
MITCHELL — District
playdowns in the singles
category were held in
Mitchell Saturday with
three players from the
Exeter lawn bowling club
and one from Mitchell
participating in the men's
category.
Games are played to 21
shots.
The format was a dou-
ble knock -out with the
winner going to the
Ontario Provincial Singles
Championship held at the
Heritage Greens Lawn
Bowling Club in Kitchener
July 24-25.
Game one saw Colin
McLuckie of Exeter defeat
Bruce Marshall of
Mitchell 21-13 while Paul
Bugler lost 21-9 to Peter
McFalls, both of Exeter.
Game two saw the win-
ners play each other with
McFalls coming out ahead
of McLuckie 21-7 and
Bugler eliminating
Marshall in a close 21-18
game.
In Ottawa July 3-4, Bob
Thompson of Exeter and
Harry Jacobi of Lucknow
were District 4 pairs win-
ners at the Elmdale Lawn
Bowling Club for the
provincial pairs title. This
was a double knock -out
event.
Game one saw them
lose a close game 17-15
to District 1, then in game
two they came up on the
short side of a 17-7 match
that went to District 9.
