Male charged for indecent act
EXETER - On June 7 at 1:45 p.m. a mother contacted
police over an incident. An officer was told a 13 -year-old
girl had been walking to school that morning when she
passed a residence on William Street in Exeter where a
male had exposed his genitals.
The officer learned this was not the first time such an
incident had occurred between this male and the family
reporting the crime. Officers checked with neighbours
and discovered similar events had happened to others
within the last year. Further citizens were approached
and more incidents of exposure came forward.
As a result of the investigation a 29 -year-old male from
Exeter has been charged with five counts of performing
an indecent act and will attend court in Exeter Aug. 26.

on evening.
THAMES ROAD - UCW Meeting- The THAMES ROAD
June meeting of the UCW was held on Tuesday evening
in the church basement with 28 women and one guest
present. Nancy Smith welcomed everyone and gave the
theme `Plants and Ourselves' and gave the Call to
Worship on gardening.
Agnes Bray played Country Gardens and Beautiful
Garden of Prayer on the piano. Pat Ballantyne read 'A
Springtime Prayer.' The women sang All Things Bright
and Beautiful accompanied by Bray. Grace Pym read
`Gardens In Our Lives.' Then the women discussed the
many gardens they had visited. Bray and Ballantyne
received the offering with prayer by Smith. Pym reported
on the different names of gardens in the Bible. She read
from Genesis, Jeremiah, Ezekial and John. She also read
some poems: `Water Gardens', `Imagine Yourself in
Spring', 'Each Person is Given a Garden'; followed by a
prayer and the Lord's Prayer.
Pym introduced Ann Morley who showed the women
how to make garden stones which were really nice. She
was thanked by Ballantyne and presented her with a
gift. A stone made by Morley was won by Margaret
Stewart whose birthday was the closest to the meeting
date.
The UCW purpose was read. Roll call was answered by
bringing a plant for exchange. Minutes were read and
adopted. Correspondence was read. Joan Skinner gave
the treasurer's report and the standing committees gave
their reports.
The UCW are to entertain at the Bluewater Rest Home,
Zurich on Aug. 17, and the Summer Event on July 17 at
Siloam UC, London. The UCW women are to make cook-
ies for Camp Bimini which are to be brought to the
church on July 11. The women are going to the Blyth
Playhouse on Thurs., Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. and to the Blyth
UC for supper at 6:15 p.m. The UCW prayer was said.
The lunch committee: Karen Etherington, Anne Bray,
Ruth Anne Osgood and Virginia Warwick prepared a
delicious dessert and beverage for everyone.
Church Service
The Worship Service Committee was in charge of the
church service on Sunday morning. Marilyn Pym opened
the service with the theme 'Open the Box', everyone
shook hands and Pym gave the announcements and led
in the Call to Worship.
Karen Etherington lit the Christ Candle and she told
the story `About A Box'. The choir sang God's Love Is My
Sunshine accompanied by organist Marilyn
Vandenbussche.
The sermon was based on John 11:1-44 (with Grace
Pym and Sharon Passmore taking part) entitled `Beware
of Open Things'. Passmore gave a Minute for Missions
entitled `Connections'. Ola Batten and Joyce Fulton
received the offering as well as being the greeters.
Prayers of the people were read responsively with
Marilyn Pym as the leader.
