The Times Advocate, 2004-06-16, Page 88 Exeter Times–Advocate Wednesday, June 16, 2004 South Huron Seniors Trade Fair popularity grows By Pat Bolen TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF EXETER — The South Huron Seniors Trade Fair con- tinues to grow in popularity and size. There was an increase in the number of exhibitors and attendandees to the trade fair which took place at the South Huron Rec Centre June 2. Organizer Jim Bearss said there were around 65 exhibitors compared to about 50 last year with over 400 in attendance, also up from last year. The show brings exhibitors from a wide area, includ- ing London, Seaforth and South Huron. Bearss said with the Rec Centre being full this year, the only way the show would be able to have more booths next year would be for exhibitors to have small- er displays. "There was a nice share of the exhibitors donated door prizes, and that always goes over well," said Bearss. "The entertainment was good, and next year there will be sound on the arena floor as well as the Rec side, which was one of the things we found out." Esther Martineau and Anne Dougan represented the Exeter Elderberries chapter of the Red Hat Society June 2 at the South Huron Seniors Trade Fair. Clandeboye WI Clandeboye Women's Institute met on Wednesday afternoon, TOWNSHIP OF LUCAN-BIDDULPH NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT General Amendment to By-law 100-2003 DATE/TIME: 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004 LOCATION: Granton Fire Hall — 511 Station Street, Granton, Ontario PURPOSE: To consider a proposed Amendment to the Township of Lucan Biddulph Zoning By-law The proposed amendment would incorporate standards with respect to the location, height and characteristics of wind generation systems on private properties. Consideration will be given to limiting, in all zones, the number of wind towers to one per lot and subject to the requirements for accessory buildings and structures. In built-up residential areas, further restrictions on the location (limit to a rear yard and interior side yard), maximum height (20 m or 66 ft) and maximum generating capacity (5 kilowatts) of wind generation systems may be considered. The recently adopted Interim Control By-law, which prohibits new wind generation systems from being erected in the Township until the potential impacts are evaluated and appropriate regulations are brought into effect, would be repealed with the coming into effect of the proposed regulations. The amendment will also address matters of a general or 'house -keeping' nature. Since adoption of the Zoning By-law on 7 October 2003, a few matters have been identified in the course of the day to day administration of the By-law which require attention. These range from matters of interpretation and admin- istration, definitions, general provisions and mapping inconsis- tencies. The changes being proposed would correct deficiencies and provide greater clarification. There is an Official Plan in effect in the Township of Lucan Biddulph. The proposed general amendment is considered to be in conformity with the Plan. INSOFAR AS the proposed amendment would apply to all lands in the Township, a key map is not attached. ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make a written or verbal representation either in support of, or in opposition to, the proposed amendment. IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY that files an appeal of a decision of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Lucan-Biddulph in respect of the pro- posed zoning by-law does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Lucan-Biddulph before the proposed zoning by-law is adopted, the Ontario Municipal Board may dismiss all or part of the appeal. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the proposed amendment is available from Ron Reymer at the Municipal Office or from the Township Planner, Mr. Ted Halwa, at (519) 963-1028 (London, Ontario). June 9 at the Beech apartment complex in Lucan. The hostess was Betty Coughlin, Tweedsmuir History Curator and numerous books, earliest as well as latest, were on display. President Betty McIntyre chaired the meeting and Irene Lynn gave a report of the recent district annual meeting at Strathroy. Members were given copies of several local pic- tures and they were asked to identify the loca- tions. Refreshments were served by the hostess and committee. Entertainment for next year's show will be expanded according to Bearss, with more than country music offered, including speeches and possibly a fashion show. Other feedback Bearss received indicated people enjoy the show for a variety of reasons including meet- ing new people and making contact with different agencies. "I think it was very well received. I've been to farm shows where people just walk and they don't seem to talk to anyone, but at this one they're all laughing and carrying on."
