Trinity Service, anniversary June 6

SAINTSBURY - John and Joyce Dickey
visited with the Davis's
recently.
St. Patrick's celebrated
the Eve of Pentecost on Saturday
evening at 7 p.m. with Evening Prayer
Service led by Margaret Carroll, assist-
ed by Courtney and Corbin MacGillivray
reading the Scripture lessons. Focus
and message was of the Holy Spirit giv-
ing the church its mission and its
power to undertake it; the church is
truly the community of the Spirit.
Katie -Scarlett MacGillivray gave an
excellent presentation on her time at
Youth Synod and regular Synod.
Service closed with prayers and
evening hymn.
Tables were set up for next Sunday's
Trinity Service and 144th Anniversary
with Rev. Stanley Jay officiant for the
10:30 a.m. service on June 6.
Ron and Margaret Carroll enjoyed
Sunday with family. In the morning,
they took in the ball game at Labatt
Park in London to watch grandson
Mitchell Iredale who was playing ball
with the London Badgers against the
Ottawa Canadians. Later on in the day
the Carrolls enjoyed the game in Exeter
where grandson Matthew Iredale
played with the Exeter Juniors against
the Mitchell team. On Monday, the
Carrolls travel to St. Marys to watch
granddaughter Michelle Iredale playing
ball --weather permitting.
On Sunday Hazel Davis
attended the Day of
Pentecost Service at the
Parish of the Holy Spirit, Trinity
Mitchell, the Anglican Church in
Western Perth and Central Huron with
Rev. Michael Adkins officiant and
preacher for the 11:00 a.m. service.
Following the service, Hazel enjoyed
lunch with Rev. Stanley Jay and
Elizabeth Jay at the Mitchell home.

POLICE BRIEFS
Routine stop finds
suspended driver
SOUTH HURON — On May 25 at 10:45
p.m. an officer made a routine stop of a
white 1991 Chev Lumina on London
Road in South Huron. When checking
the driver, the officer found he had no
driver's licence with him and further
checks found the man was suspended
for previous driving offences.
As a result a 43 -year-old man from
South Huron has been charged with dri-
ving while suspended under the
Highway Traffic Act and will attend
court July 15.
Grand opening for Zurich's new
community centre this weekend

ZURICH - A nice 75th
birthday celebration and
dinner was held for Phylis
Deichert on Saturday at
St. Peter's Lutheran
Church Hall with several
relatives, friends and fami-
ly members attending. Her
birthday was on May 30.
Congratulations to
Clarence (Charlie) and
Joan Regier who celebrat-
ed their 40th wedding
anniversary on May 23. A
family get-together was
held this past Sunday after
Mass which all their chil-
dren and spouses attend-
ed.
A buck and doe was held
for Nick Regier (son of
Randy and Nancy) and
Pam Masse (daughter of
Gerard and Henrica) all of
the Zurich
area, on Sat.,
May 29 at the
New Blue Water Complex
in Zurich. The couple are
being married in July.
Happy 49th wedding
anniversary wishes to
Gord and Jeanne Hay on
June 4.
There was a lovely
engagement party on Sat.,
May 29, held in London
for our daughter, Renee
Sweeney and fiance Alex
Letchford at the home of
friends, Dave Woo and
Deb with family members
on both sides attending as
well as several friends.
The couple are getting
married in 2005.
The grand opening of the
new Community Centre is
Sat., June 5 and Sun.,
June 6. The ceremonies
begin at 1 p.m. Saturday
with the ribbon cutting fol-
lowed by tours and music
all afternoon by various
groups in the area. There
will also be a food booth.
Sunday is the Fireman's
Breakfast from 9:30 to
11:30 a.m. Tickets are
available at the door
(adults $6; children $3).
An ecumenical church
service featuring a mass
choir starts at 12:30 p.m.
The Agricultural Society
will be having their fair
board meeting Thurs.,
June 3 at 8 p.m. at the
Blue Water Community
Centre (BWCC) in the
small room.

RCIA potluck supper
A potluck supper and
lovely evening was
enjoyed by about 20 peo-
ple on May 26 at the home
of Michael and Elsie
Frijters for the members
of the RCIA program and
their spouses along with
Father John of Zurich and
Father Thomas attending
from Goderich.
'The Promise' will be
held in Forest at the
Amphitheater on July 2, 3,
4 and 9, 10 and 11 each
night beginning at 8:30
p.m. Tickets are sold at
the gate for $12 adults
and $5 for children. Bring
a lawn chair.
Sisters Beth Sweeney
(Boyle) and Carrie
Eybergen recently spent a
week in Cuba at a resort
where Sweeney taught fit-
ness classes.
Richard and Kathy
Breakey of Edmonton are
presently spending some
time in Zurich visiting with
his mother Dorothy, who
is now a resident of Blue
Water Rest Home. Kathy
is also visiting with her
mother and relatives in
London.
Tom and Carol Arthur of
Exeter and Geoff Wushke,
travelled to Moosomin,
Saskatchewan to attend
the funeral of Albert
Wushke who passed away
on May 25.
He was the
husband of
Mary -Mae and relatives of
Trueman Fischer, Leona
Reichert and Thelma
Thiel, all of Zurich at
BWRH.
Emma Marie Ducharme
(daughter of Charlie and
Tammy Ducharme) was
baptized recently at St.
Peter's Church, St.
Joseph.
Josef and Martha Risi
recently enjoyed a bus trip
to New York City. They
enjoyed visiting Liberty
Island, seeing the Empire
State Building and United
Nations Buildings.
Father Francis returned
to Zurich (St. Boniface
Parish) after being in India
since Easter visiting family
members.
Jerome and Carmel
Sweeney spent the
Victoria holiday weekend
in Windsor and attended
the wedding of Brandy
and Mel Mills.
Farewell to Mark and
Cynthia Strickland who
moved to Goderich. They
will be missed by the Bean
Festival Committee and
their many friends.
Welcome to town the
new pastor of the
Lutheran Church, Ann
Kruger and husband Bob
who have moved into the
manse which has been
nicely renovated for them.
Some Gelinas and
Sweeney relatives from
the area attended the
funeral of Grace Tiede
(Gelinas) in Richmond Hill
on May 28.
Canada Day will be cele-
brated on Sun., June 27 in
Zurich from 1 to 5 p.m.
with a barbecue supper on
Victoria Street (by the
Bean Festival kitchen).
There are also lots of
other activities going on
until dusk.

Gingerich born on April 1.

Sharon Gingerich all of the

Blanche Ducharme of

attended the wedding of
his daughter Andrea to
Ian of Sarnia in Punta
Cana. There were 28 fam-
ily members and friends
who attended the wed-
ding.

Michigan to visit their sis-
ter Mary Ayotte who has
not been very well.
CWL Meet
The Catholic Women's
League meeting was held
on May 18 with President
Joan Regier and 23
women attending. Guest
speakers were Chris and
Kelly Collison from
Partner's Paint and Paper
Store in Exeter.
Pat Meidinger gave the
treasurer's report and
Carmel Sweeney read the
minutes of the last meet-
ing. Patti Hunt read the
correspondence. Everyone
is invited to the Zion
United Church in
Dashwood to hear speaker
Elaine Bickel of Michigan
on Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
The National Convention
will be held in London
from August 6 to 12 at the
Hilton.
Betty Grenier will order
the Rosary for the Grade 8
graduation on June 22.
The Knights of Columbus
buy the cases for them.
The Catholic Women's
League will give the
Christian Life Award to a
Grade 12 student from St.
Anne's School in Clinton.
Julie Becker and helpers
will be handing out quilt
tickets at mass on June 12
and 13. The annual Dr.
Simone Collection is from
June 7 to 13 at the church.
