How to live to be 100: be married, exercise daily,
stay in one geographical area, go to bed early
and sleep for 10 hours; don't smoke, eat well-
balanced meals but don't overeat, add spices
(pepper or hot sauces), a bit of wine before meals and walk
whenever you can.
The insides of our lungs are filled with about a half million tiny air
sacs called alveoli. If you stretch all these sacs out flat, they would
cover a tennis court. Smoking damages these delicate little alveoli
by breaking down the walls between them so the lungs don't work
as efficiently and making it harder to breathe.
May is Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Month. Research in finding
ways of improving the lives of MS sufferers is always going on. A
bone marrow transplant study is in progress and is showing some
promising results.
Generic medications (less expensive copies) work as well as the
brand name drug. They contain the same amount of active
ingredient as their brand name brothers. They differ only in the
excipients (non-medical ingredients). These excipients are used as
diluents, colouring agents, binders, flavours and sweeteners and
shouldn't change how the drug works.
