Hurondale WI enjoys fun and games
By Bev Campbell
EXETER -On Wed.,
March 31, the Hurondale
WI met at the home of
Marian Dougall, where
Dougall had used her
extensive collection of
games for decorations. A
delicious lunch was served
to 12 members.
Following lunch,
President Marion Frayne
welcomed everyone and
opened the meeting with
the Institute Ode and the
Mary Stewart Collect.
Frayne reminded all
about the bake sale on the
Thursday of Exeter
Sidewalk Sale Days in
July. Information about
the ROSE Programme
workshop on April 29 in
Ilderton plus officers train-
ing session was discussed.
Hurondale WI is responsi-
ble for making up the Fair
display list to be given to
Huron South Branches
taking part in Exeter and
Zurich Fall Fairs. The title
for displays this year is
`Treasures from
Grandma's Day.' Huron
South District Board meet-
ing is April 6 at the Huron
Restaurant in Exeter. A
donation was made to
`Focus High for WI,' an
on-going project of FWIO.
Fern Dougall gave her
report on Tweedsmuir
Project. The District
Annual will be held on
May 20 in Zurich.
The meeting was then
turned over to the pro-
gramme group and
Dougall conducted a
memorial service for

The Hike For Hospice
starts at 2 p.m. May 2,
with registration at 1:45

bereavement councillor
Kim Winbow said, is a
Canada -wide event and
takes place during
Hospice Week. This is the
first time the walk has
been held in Exeter. The
walk will go ahead rain or
shine.
In addition to having the
walk at MacNaughton
trail, there will also be a
wheelchair walk around
MacNaughton Park and

meth lab
SOUTH HURON - On
March 30 shortly after
5:30 a.m. a citizen con-
tacted police over a
methamphetamines lab
located in South Huron.
The officer, with assis-
tance from the owner of
the property, attended a
residence on Elimville Line
and found the remains of
a meth lab in the garage
of the house.
The officer, assisted by
the OPP Drug Unit and a
Team 1 Company out of
Toronto, dismantled and
removed the rest of the
lab. Anhydrous ammonia,
a garbage can containing
unknown liquid chemicals
and several other by-prod-
ucts were seized. The sub-
stances have been sent on
to Health Canada for
analysis. The investigation
continues.

Those participating in the
Villa walk can take their
registration papers there.
All the money raised for
the walk will stay in
Huron County and will go
toward VON programs
like palliative care volun-
teer programs and
bereavement services. No
goal has been set for the
walk, but Winbow said the
VON will be happy with
whatever is raised. She
reminded participants to
bring the money they've
raised and their pledge
sheets to the trail or the
Villa on the day of the
walk.
If interested, you can get
a pledge sheet from the
flyers and posters put up
all over town, or call the
VON office at 235-2510.
Anyone interested in
pre -registering can buy a
Hospice T-shirt for $10.
Winbow said the walk is
a great use of the trail and
"people seem to be very
enthusiastic about it." She
said the Hike for Hospice
is a family event and par-
ticipants can walk as far
as they like. Bottled water
will be on hand during the
walk.
A VON committee is set-
ting up the walk with the
help of the Ausable
Bayfield Conservation
Authority. Winbow said
volunteers for the walk
are welcome.
"It's a great community
event," she said, and an
opportunity to give back.

present had many fond
memories of her to relate.

explanation of the motto,

essential to good life!' The
