The South Huron Midget 'CC' Sabres won the OMHA All Ontario
championship with a playoff record of 11-1-2 in fourteen games.
After completing the regular season with a record of
17-4-3, the Sabres defeated Forest in the opening
round of the playoffs in three games by 3-0, 7-1 and
8-1 scores to advance against Harrow.
South Huron defeated Harrow three straight by
scores of 7-0, 4-0 and 4-0.
In the semifinal series against Tavistock, South Huron
needed four games, winning the opening game by a 4-2
score, before dropping the second game 3-2.
The Sabres rebounded to win the next two games by
identical scores of 4-0 to advance to the OMHA finals
against defending champion Ennismore.
After South Huron won game one 5-2, the teams tied a
pair of overtime games 3-3 and 2-2 before the Sabres
took a hard fought 1-0 win in game five to clinch the
title.
Jordan Darling and Jason Thompson led the Sabres
in the playoffs with seven goals apiece, followed by
Jeff Smale with six and Matt Martene, Greg
Thompson and Adam Johns with five each.
Jason Thompson led the team with 19 points in the
playoffs, followed by Larry Northover with 14, Adam
Johns and Darling with 13 and Smale with 12.
Jason Thompson also led the Sabres with 12 assists, fol-
lowed by Northover with 11, Johns with 8, and Darling and
Smale with six each.
South Huron goalie Sean Ellison played 11 games in the
playoffs, compiling a record of 9-0-2 with a g.a.a of 1.05
and five shutouts.
