Pee Wee'sYoung Canada champions
The South Huron Sabres Pee Wee rep team won the Goderich Young Canada Week tournament March 16 in
double overtime vs Parkhill 1-0 in the 'C' division. Paul Christmas got the only goal South Huron needed
backed up by a shutout by Brent Godkin. On the way to the championship, South Huron defeated Petrolia 8-1

Sherwoods go to game seven against Radars
HENSALL — The Hensall
Sherwoods split games on the
weekend for the third weekend in a
row to force a seventh game in
their best of seven WOAA semi-
final series with the Clinton
Radars.
Clinton took a 3-2 series lead on
Friday night with a 3-2 win at
home. On Saturday night before a
full house in Hensall, the
Sherwoods prevailed 4-3 in over-
time.
The Radars got on the
board first Friday evening
with six minutes left in the
first.
There was no scoring until the
2:42 mark of the third period when
Dave Farquhar scored to tie the
game. Jarrett Jeffrey picked up the
lone assist.
Clinton got that one back about
two minutes later. With 8:21 left in
the third Chris Downie took a pass
from Chris Kennedy to knot the
game at two.
When the game apeared headed
for overtime the Radars scored
with 1:28 left to give them the lead
and the victory.
The Sherwoods had 14 minutes
in penalties compared with 12 for
Clinton.
Shots on goal were not recorde
but Scott Wood made numerous
saves to keep the game close.
Saturday night in Hensall the
Sherwoods scored two goals in the
first eight minutes to go up 2-0.
Jeremy Geoffrey got the first from
Nate Burns and Mike Johnson.
Kennedy got the second one set up
by Sean McCann and Jamie
Cornish.
The Radars scored a late
power play goal in the first
to make it 2-1 after one.
Clinton scored two goals
23 seconds apart midway
thru the second to give
them a 3-2 lead after two periods.
With time starting to run out,
Geoffrey scored his second of the
night from Burns and Jeff Glover.
The goal came with 4:46 left in
the third. About seven minutes into
the overtime, Johnson took a nice
feed from Burns and deked the
goalie and scored the game win-
ner. Geoffrey also assisted.
The Sherwoods were 1-6 on the
power play while the Radars were
1-7. Clinton outshot Hensall 38-17,
with Wood turning in another stel-
lar performance in goal.
Game seven is Tuesday night in
Clinton at 8:30 p.m.

Bowling provincials
HAMILTON — Feb. 28
the Provincials were held
in Hamilton at Sherwood
Lanes for the Ontario 5 -
Pin Bowlers' Association
League Executives.
We would like to extend
congratulations to
Darlene Broom from the
Sunday Mixed League for
her top ten finish.
She won a portable
stereo for her endeavors.
March 7 Lucan hosted a
House Round for the
05PBA Team
Tournament.
There were 10 teams
participating for top spot.
The "Rockin' Bowlers"
from the Wednesday
Mixed league were the
winners.
The team consisted of
Dave Johnston, Debbie
Thompson, AnnMarie
Beaudoin, John Kennes,
Kim Bice and Kevin
Rollings.
Their coach will be Don
Cunningham. This team
were 165 pins over their
combined team average
for the three games.
They will now advance
to a regional round at
Park 'N Bowl in St.
Thomas on April 18.
Congratulations and
good luck to this team.
A new tournament this
year from the 05PBA is
called the $10,000
Shootout, which is open to
all Lucan Bowling mem-
bers.
A total of 20 bowlers
took part and the winner
was Cheryl Kennedy from
the Sunday Mixed League.
She finished the three
game tournament with a
662 total, which was 137
pins over her 175 aver-
age.
Kennedy will now
advance to a provincial
tournament, to be held at
Stellar Lanes in
Newmarket May 8 and if
she would be fortunate
enough to win, she would
receive $10,000. Good
