DRAWS POSTPONED Two draws that were to take place in ;Goderich this month have ;been. postponed. They are the draw for the Goderich Louzon Hockey Club and• also the one for the cancer, polio and tuberculosis committee of the God- erich Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Wm. R. Archibald A highly respected resident passed away at her home in Tuckerismith on Sept. llth, in the person of Mrs. Jessie Valance Craig Archibald, be- lieved wife of Mr. Wm. R. Archibald following a long illness. Mrs. Archi- bald was in her 75th year and was borh in Scotland, where she received hereducation and came to Canada in 1904. On Nov 7, 1904, she was married at Montreal to Mr. Archi- bald and they lived at Seaforth ever since. Mrs Archibald was a member of St. Thomas' Anglican Church and took an active part in the work of the church. Besides her husband she is survived by four sons and three daughters. Applications for the position ,of stenoghapher were opened and passed along to the principal for action. The table being decked with many delic- ious eats, that go with a real good fowl xri''eal. Mrs. Clarence Datars and Mr's. Leroy Thiel assisted with the serving. Mr. Clayton Ortwein acted as ina.eter of ceremonies and in his 'usual way kept the party in the (bestof spirits. The evening was spent in a social and joval manner. At;',a recent meeting, the Ontar- io Fire Marshall, Mr. Alexander, o f Toronto, outlined steps that -could be taken to give adequate ;protection. The chief aupport seems to be behind a prop :sal to buy a $10,000 fire truck, Stationed at Crediton, which with the co-operation of Dashwood, and Grand Bend fire brigades, would be responsible for protection in the township. The city of Toronto will carry on with fast time one month more, so as to conserve •Hydro power, but for this part of Ontario we will observe Standard time from midnight Satur- daly • night on. AUBURN STORE BURNS Several thousand dollars damage resulted from a fire on Sunday which completebyi gutted the interior of the general store in this Huron County village 12 miles east of God- erich. •The fire broke out •before 7 a.me forced a family of three to 'flee in their night attire from an upstair apartment at the rear of the store. Akio damaged were living quarters of the owner, Gordon R. Taylor, at the rear of the store and an egggrad- ing !station. Three fire brigades and hundreds of volunteers formed buck- et brigades that fought the stubborn blaze for nearly three hours. Hein. During the program part of the program, Lion Ford Haberer gave a very interesting talk on their recent trip to Colorado where they visited with relatives.. They had to go through five States to geiR there, going through the rich corn belts, the Nebraska cattle ran- ges, and finally, getting to their des- tiiittion.
