Mr, Harold Stade, veteran hockey
player of town, received an injury
to his nose while playing hockeylwith
the 'Clinton team at Tavistock. Un-
fortunately, in a pile-up Hal. was
cut in the face getting in contact
withthe skate of another player.
Off To Florida
. and Mrs. Andrew F. Hess are
enjoYing a very admirable winter
in the south. Lea,ving .on Friday,
they took the train to Detroit from
where they were joined, by the for
mer' brother, Mr. and Mrs. William
Hess of Pontiac, ;Mich., and left by
autoinobile for Miatna, Florida, where
theyi intend staying for two months.
Fortunately they got out of this dis-
trict before the big blow came on

The two managere,. H. O. Hess .of
Zurich and T. H. Hoffman of Dash-
wood gave a .comprehensive picture
of the system. It was pointed out that
there were 4!5 new subscribers con-
nected to the 'System during 1946;
and many renters. 'The net income
for the. year was 42,743.37. The
gain in surplus for 1946 was
77c. Due to the .demand for more
service at Grand Bend in the last 3
years new icables and lines had to be
erected necessitating a considerable
expense.
It was then moved by Wan. Edigh-
offer and seconded by Roland Geiger
that the meetinghe adjourned.
The Council' then met in the Co-
uncil Chamber where it began its re-
gular monthly !council meeting. The
minutes of ;the last regular Council
meeting were read and the following
correspondence was presented: Zur-
ich Lions, re. hall improvement; Bell
Co. re: placing of an H carrier ter-
minal and short course in London,
iii Feb. Dept of Municipal Affairs;
A. H. Erskine re Itst of lands for
sale in 19147. 'Salvation Army; Pept.
of Agriculture, re: weed control; As-
sociation of Assessing Officers; Ont.

CARNIVAL AT ZURICH
Tuesday, February 18th; is' the
date set for the Zurich Lions Carnival
and in case of bad :weather, will. be

getters for the locals.
Friday evening the Exeter Legion
Outfit visited town and handed the
locals quite a beating to the tune of
8-2. Stade and O'Brien scored for
turich.
On Tuesday afternoon the Grand'
Bend School boys were up in Zurich
and played the local school team in
a very close contested game, and
the locals were this time not to be
'defeated on their own ground's, by
handing the visitors a 3-2 defeat..
