Four Firsts
M. t. Hooper & Son were award
ed four firsts and one second prize in
the wagon or express horse crass and
A. Merner won one second, Harry
Beaver received first prize for a team
in this class.
Fred Rooney took first prize with
his teaan in the Agricultural elass.He
also won a first with a team entered
in the heavy draught class. His four -
horse team was first in the heavy
First prize for one -year-olds in
the roadster class was awarded to
Becker Willert. Winners in the road-
ster team exhibition were W. C.
Woods, first; W. Monro, 2nd; Currie
& Turvill 3rd: Winning teams in the
carriage class were entered by Mon-
roe and M. E: Hooper & Son.
Win. Mayberry came first and M.
E. Hooper & Son 2nd in the half -
bred hackney class; W. Munro and
W. Mayberry drove the winners in
the single carriage class.
W. C. Woods won 2 firsts for his
roadsters, both under and, over 1115.2
hands, and a second in the single
roadster race.
Poultry Winners
In the poultry exhibition acob
Battler of Zur-ich, was' outstanding
with 48 first and three seconds. F.
IVIcClymont of Varna won 14 firsts
and 20 seconds. Fowl shown by • El-
don Laird won him 8 'firsts and 11
seconds: D. A. Grahams poultry won
9 firsts and 5 seconds. In the same
class Melvin Sinith of Zurich, won
firsts. Theo. ,Steinbach of Zurich, 1

Six Angus cattle shown by Bert
Klo,pp of Zurich, gained six prizes
for him in that class. Another out-
standing cattle exhibition in the Jer-
sey class was Henry Flax`bard, of
Zurieh.
D. A. Graham of Parkhill, was the
Owner of winning Leichester sheep
and Orval McGowan of Blyth, won
several prizes in the sheep contests
with Shropshire and Leicester.
Prizes for the best bacon type
Yorkshire hogs were awarded to �.
McGowan and J. Battler. Entries in
this Class were few.
Grain and Seeds
Mrs. Ed. Lawson of Lucan, wa.s
an outstanding winner in the grains
and seeds class with 5 firsts and 1
second. Mrs. Walter Weber, 0. Bat-
tler of Zurich, Mrs. E. Darlig of
Cla.ndeboye, and H. Fuss of Zurich,
were other 1st winners.
In the horticultural class apples
shown by Fred McGlymont of Varna,
brought him 22 firsts and three sec-
onds.
Theo. Steinbach of Zurich and Len
Merner, 0. Battler, R. Geiger, Mev.
Smith, Miss E. Becker and Keith
Westlake were winners in other sec-
tions of the class. Mr. Battler won
4 firsts and 2 seconds for potatoes
and E. Willert 2 firsts. Others win-
ners were Denny Bedard, Mr. Bat-
tler, Mr. Merner and Miss Becker.
Dairy Products
Entrants in the dairy protracts class
who took first place were M. Smith,
H. Flaxbard, R. Geiger, F. McClyin-
ont and Snowden & Grainger.
Winners in the baking and preser-
ving class included Mrs. W. Weber,
Mrs. Battler, F. McClymont, Melvin
Smith, Wm. Hay, H. Flazbard, and
Miss Eleanor Ducharme.
Winners in the ladies work class
included Mrs. Ed. Lawson, H. A.
Fuss, Mrs. Darling, Miss E. Becker
and Mrs. Battler who, among them
too'all the first prizes in the 38
sections -of the class. These same won
most of the prizes for bed rurnish-
ings along with Mrs. H. Flaxbard.
Art Awards
Awards for art work were pres-
ented to Miss E. Ducharme, tiordon
Smith, R. A. and Mrs. Fuss, Mrs. B.
Darling and Mrs. Ed. Lawson.
R Geiger, 0. Battler?. Mrs. Law-
son, Denny Bedard'and Mrs, Darling
were winners in the floral exhibits,
judges were Hugh Berry, of Kirk -
ton, horses and garden vegetables;
Humphrey Snell of Clinton, for cat-

Tionsall, grain and seeds; Mrs. Allan

Purchases Business
Mr. Alfred Mellott. of town has
purchased a hardware business in
Woodstock and receives immediate
possession. Mr. and Mrs. Mellett
have been in that city the past week
to attend to business. Their many
Zurich friends wish them every suc-
cess,

moved their household effects into
their new home which is not as yet
oompleted, owing to the shortage of
houses they have vacated the home
owned by Mrs. Stephan and will re-
side for the present in the melbert

OBITUARY
Late Joseph Brenner
Joseph Brenner, of the third gen-
eration of a family operating the
Brenner Hotel at Grand Bend, died
unexpectedly in Kincardine Hospital
on Thursday, Sept. 26th. Two years
ago . he disposed of the Brenner
House and since that time resided in
Kindardine. He had been in indir-
ferent health the past year and last
winfer underwent a serious operation
Born 39 years ago in Grand Bend,

Ezra Brenner, he was associated with

. A lovely wedding was soierrmized
at- the Lutheran Manse, Zurich, on
Saturday, September 21st at 2 p.m.,
when Marjorie Aileen Datars, only
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garnet
Datars .became the 'bride ax Ervin
Clarence Reichert, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred Reichert. Rev. E. Heim -
rich of Zurich performed the cere-
mony. For her wedding the attract-
ive ibride chose a floor -length satin
and net gown, with long sleeves tap-
ering to a point at fingers with a
sweet heart neckline. Her full skirt
of net over net had tapering points
of satin. She wore a headdress with
finger tip veil. Her only ornament
was a sweetheart locket, grit of the
groom. She carried a cascade bouqu-
et of red briarcliffe roses. Miss
Belva Truenmer, cousin of the bride
was 'bridesmaid wearing a blue sheer
floor length gown with blue net head
dress trimmed with small roses and
shoulder length veil and carried a
Colonial bouquet of Johanna Hill
roses. Ivan Reichert, twin brother
of the groom, was best man. Follow-
ing the ceremony, a reception was
held at the home of the bride's par-
ents for forty guests. Mrs. Datars
receiving in a gown of Forest green
flowered crepe. Mrs. Reichert, assis-
ted dressed in a two-piece dress of
black trimmed with peach. Both wore
a corsage :of pink Ibriarcliffe roses.
The home decorations were in pink
and white, the bridal table centred
with a three-tier wedding cake with
white and pink tapers and white and
pink candies in silver holders, also
pink dallies in a silver basket com-
pleted the decoration. Serving were:
Miss 'Anna Datars and Miss Elda
Reichert, cousins of the bride and
groom, assisted by Mrs. Wm. Con-
aitt, Mrs, Orville Smith and Mrs.
Wilfred Weide... The groom's gift
to the bridemaid was a silver butter
dish and to the best man a billfold.
The happy couple left on a trip to
Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Hamilton
arnid showers of confetti, the bride
travelling in pale green. trimmed.
