The Council of the- Township of
Hay met in the Township Hall, Zur-
ich, on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd for their
regular monthly meeting and also
as a Court of Revision on the Logan
Drain by-law.

Logan Drain by-law be adjourned
sine die.

anley that no action will be taken in
respect of the -Logan Drain until this

by-law as required by sec. 74 of the
Municipal Drainage Act.
That Earl Campbell be appointed
as representative from Hay Township
to the Exeter Park Board for the
Community Grounds.
That the relief paid to Mrs. Edith

PASSES BY-LAW'
Huron County Council at a special
meeting last Wed. night passed the
third reading of the bylaw authoriz-
ing'the sale of $250,000 of debent-
ures at 1% p.c. for five years for
the erection of a new court house to
replace the present structure. The
bylaw provides the retiring of $50,-
000 each year.

ing distributed this week throughout
Canada, and you will be able to get
your new book on Friday and Satur-
day of this week, at the Zurich town
hall, at the hours from 2 to b p.m.,
and from 7 to 10 p.m. Don't miss it
or you will have to wait a few weeks
before you can get one. Be on time,
and don't miss your rations.
Prise List Out
The 1946 prize lists of the Zurich
Fall Fair are now out and the secy.
Mr. E. F. Klopp is busy distributing
the same. The book carries its usual
list of prizes, a few changes made,
and the usual amount of Specials
which are always interesting. The
school .children's list are added this
year. You will also notice the board
went in for soliciting advertisements
in a big way this year, as over thirty
pages of such advertising are includ-
ed •in the book this year. This will,
of course, help to finance the affair
to a considerable extent. Be sure
and get a book and bring your best
articles to the fair for competition.
HAVE BIG ENROLMENT
At the Exeter High School the
*4ng,•staff has been increased
froe r eight to twelve teachers to take
care of the additional pupils coming
in .by the creation of the new H. S.
area. The enrolment is about 280
pupils as compared with 205 last yr.
A new department is being introduc-
ed, that of Agricultural Science, for
which Mr. Gordon C. Kock, has taken
a special summer course. Special
Commercial is again being taught.
The new bus system for the convey-
ance of pupils from the district is
,working fairly well and meeting with
general approval. Guenther Trans-
port have the contract for the six
routes and until such time as the new
42 -passenger busses are available,
which should be with a few weeks,
trucks have been filled up and the
six routes are now being covered.

OBITUARY
Late Mrs. Mary Smith
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Smith, 79
years of age, nee Mary E. Heyrock,
a resident of the Santa Monica; Ray
District, for 26 years, died on Aug
ust 25th, 1946 at her home, 879'
Gretna Green Way, Brentwood Hei-
ghts, California. Mrs. Smith was the
widow of the late W. H. Smith, who -
died in 4939 and was in the invest-
ment business in Santa Monica. The
