Motorists travelling along the road
beside his farm have expressed sur-
prise aver the mysteriuos "remote
control" methods employed by Ralph
Foster, of Sheppardton, in the cut-
ting of his wheat crop. Glancing'
from the road to Mr. Foster's grain
field, motorists see a tractor without
a driver hauling a binder. Seated on,
the binder is Mr. Foster, who by some'
ingenious method controls the prog-
ress from his seat back on the bin-
der.
PROMINENT AGRICULTURIST
IS AWARDED THE M.B.E.
Wilfred Lyaill "Nick" Whyte, one
of the leading figures in agricultural
circles in Huron County WI' several
years has been awarded the M.B.E.
in the King's Dominion Day honors
list.
• Mr. Whyte has held many offices
in Huron County aulcultura organ-
izations and has been a constant wor-
ker in forming plans. for the benefit
of the community at large.
He is the past president of the
Huron County Federation of Agric-
ulture, a past president of the. Clin-
ton Lions Cluali, vice-president of
several Victory Loan campaign com-
mittees, chairman of the Huron
County Agricultural War Commit-
tee, a Master of Britannia Masonic
Lodge, chairman of the Dominion
Poultry and Egg Consultative Com-
mittee, which advised the special
Products Board in negotations
when egg and poultry cuntracts
were being neglected with the Brit-
ish Ministry of Food., a member of

Eye Injured
,Mr.. Clarence ,Jeffrey met with a
painfulaccident when he was cat-
ching, a ball, which. landed on his
right ere. After medical treatment he
is getting along 'quite well.
Had Good Fishing Trip
Mr and Mrs. Herb. Mousseau and
two daughters and Mr. Ted. Klopp
who Were on an outing on Manitoulin
Island, have returned home and re-
port a very nice time as the fishing
was good, and when. one can land
the eigiht pound trout, there is noth-
ing wrong with the fishing, and how
they domake one smile when they
are served on the table with all the
many other goodies.
Barn Burns
,., Muth sympathy is extended to MT.
and Mrs. Win.. Taylor who live about
a mile north of town who lost their
barn and contents about the middle
of the 'forenoon, this Wednesday. Mr
Taylor and the boys were loading
manure at the east end of the barn
when one of the bays noticed that
the barn was on fire. Alarm was
immediately given and the Zurich
Fire Brigade called, but by the time
they aa'aived on the scene, the barn
was down as the flames devoured it se
in a very short time. The loss to
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor will be a big itifi
one, af, there is always part of the
crop ard manny other things so hard
to replace. Again, we extena our
sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor.

attended the Seventh General Conv-
ention of Christian Education of the
Evangelical Chunch, July 24-28. Rev.
C. B. Heckendorn who also attended
the Convention is staying at Oak-
wood a few days longer to -attend
the Board of Christian Education
meeting.. . Nearly 1000 delegates
from all parts of the continent were
present. Many foreign missionaries
were also there. Besides some of the
leaders of the Evangelical Church,
other guest speakers includeing Dr.
C. T. Craig, of Yale University, Dr.
H. C. Munro of New York; Miss
Pearl Rosser of Chicago, and Con-
gressman Walter Judd of Minnesota
addressed the convention from time,
to time. The theme of the convention
was "Forward Together with Christ."

August 211t is the date set for
the big Zurich Lions Club Frolic and
the people of Zurich and district are
asked to co-operate and respond to
the local. Chub in making this a big
success. As we all remember what
a big evening we had last year and
a repitition is being looked for. There
will be plenty of doings for all, big
or small. Just now the Lions are
selling tickets for the draw that will
be held, and the public are asked to
buy up these tickets, which will be
a big step towards making the event
a success. Buy as many tickets as
you can, as the more you buy, the
more you will be helping , tiais com-
munity welfare fund, and besides
you have just as good • a chance as
anyone has to win one or the valu-
able prizes being offered.

ol. Recently Mr. Whyte erected on

his 650 -acre farm a large brooder
hoa =e with a capacity of 36,000
ehickens, and a laying house capac-
ity for 12,000 laying hens. He has
200 head of cattle and 150 _togs: As
a leading producer he has taken an
active interest in forming producers'
organizations- and i president of the
Seaforth Produce Ltd., and the Hur-
on Pam Feeds Ltd.
MT. Whyte, a son of Mrs. John
Whyte, 53 William St., Stratford,
was married in 1934 to the former
Miss Margaret McMillan, craughter
of the late Thomas MelVfillan, M.P.
for South Huron. They have four
children; John, Mary, Thomas and
Wilfred, Jr,
Mr. Whyte is a native of Stratford
a graduate of the Stratford Collegi-
ate Institute, and Ontario Aglialatta
aria College, Guelph.

BUSSES FOR SCHOOL AREA
A conference of the Exeter Board
of Education and the reeves of the
municipalities of Exeter, Hensall,
Hay, Stephen and U'sborne, was held
in the Exeter Library to discuss de-
tails of a proposed bus transportation
system of pupils to the Exeter High
SchOol in September. While the lar-
ger high school area does not become
a reality until January of next year,
it was the unanimous opinion of
those present that the system should
cominence in Sept Of this year as is
being done in other districts. The
local board would be in charge until
January when the new district beard
would take over. Mr, Duftin of the
Dept. of Education was present and
gave valuable information and ,ad-
vice regarding occomodations and
bus! service. Tenders will be asked
after a survey of routes an number
of pupils has been made and consent
of the Dept. received. It is expeeted
