QUALITY - PRICE SERVICE
! Our streets have been nicely tre-
ated with dust pre : ention, as the
streets were getting quite dusty, and
this isa method which should be fol-
lowed up every year. It is to be hop-
ed that the rains following the appli-
cation of calcium did not wash too
much of it away. This will add gre-
atly to help keep our town much
clean er.
A large gathering took place at
the Blake United Church anns,,ersary
on Sunday afternoon. Friends carne
from near and far to pay tribute to
the seventy-fifth anniversary of this
favourite place of worship. The aud-
itorium n as overcrowded, in fact. a
goodly number had to remain out-
side. Rev. Workman of Seaforth,. a
Hills green old boy was the anniver-
sary speaker and the Zurich Evang-
elical choir supplied the music.
New Restuarant Opens
Zurich's new restuarant or known
as the :Snack Shoppe and owned and
operated by Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Thiel opened for business last week
and is doing a very nice business.
The stalls for serving are very in-
viting, as seemingly this is what our
village was lacking. The place is very
attractive on entering, and they are
endeavouring to give the very best
of service. They also operate l;he
Novelty Store in connection and carry
a good line of papers, magazines,
cards of all kinds can be purchased
here. Then there are refreshments
,such as ice cream, soda fountain,
many kinds of lunches, with stools
and a counter to serve then. Don't
forget when in. the village to call at
the New Snack Shop and see what
they have to offer
BASEBALL NEWS
The old and ever popular game of
baseball opened with a bang on Thurs
day night when the Mitchell boys
played the Zurich nine. A Large
crowd was present to cheer the boys
on to victory, the final score being
Zurich 7, Mitchell 1. The Zurich
club, after a lapse from organized
baseball for a decade or more, hand-
led themselves like veterans. The pit-
ching of Karl •Heideman and Hurley
Shaw of the Zurich team was the
very best one could expect at the
early part of the season. There was
a1:;o a very good attendance, as a
crowd of about 350 were present. As
the season progresses we hope to see
more such games with plenty, of act
ion. The Zurich line-up consisted of
C. Krueger e.f; E. Geseho 1-b; H.

HOW BIG IS EACH FARMER'S
SHARE?
The world is crying out for huge
supplies of food to keep millions of
people from starving. Every Canad-
ian farmer knows that he will play
an important part in supplying this
food. He knows also that this food
represents money for him. The great-
er the production of saleable food,
the greater the farmer's income.
Modern, efficient farming calls for
modern farm appliances. Without
these necessary aids, the farmer will
be missing opportunities which are
rightfully his. He makes his work
doubly hard.
To go-ahead farmers who wish to
improve or modernize their farm
buildings, appliances or land, the
Bank of Montreal is ready to offer
the necessary financial assistance.
Visit Mr. Sewell, manager of the
local branch, to -day. Discuss your
proper share of future prosperity.

MVtr. William Johnston while hoe-
ing his potato patch the other day
accidently! hoed out a few tubers
which were about half the size of a
hen's egg. These potatoes were plant-
ed in March, and are plenty early, as
we usually think it early to find these
by the first of July, instead the
first of June.
