HAY COUNCIL
The Council of the Township of
Hay met in the Township Hall, Zur-
ich, on Monday Nov. 5th at 1.30 p.m.
'4 lien the following motions were
passed:
That the Clerk be authorized to
notify the parties who dumped rub-
bish on Hay Township Roads allow-
ance beside the Zurich Dumping
ground, and other places to remove
the same at once..
That surety bonds for the :Treas-
urer and Tax Collector be renewed
at the expiration of present term.
That a by-law be drawn up pro-
viding for Nomination and Election
for Reeve and Councillors for Hay
Township for the year 1946.
That the Township of tray pass a
by-law requesting the Highway Dep-
artment for Municipal Roads to grant
.Hay Township an additional amount
of l3,000.00 for subsidy.
That by-law be drawn up appoint
ing the Clerk, Treasurer for Hay Tp.
as Collector of Arrears of taxes for
1945.
That no action be taken,on the
letter of Joseph Ducharme's lawyer
re: drain problem, until our Town-
ship Engineer, T. R. Patterson is
consulted.
That the auditors Monteith &
Monteith, chartered accountants of
Stratford, be again appointed aud-
itors for Hay Township for 1945.
That the Zurich Agricultural So-
ciety be granted $75.00 and the Exe-
ter Agric. Society be granted $15.
That the Hay Township Solicitor
be.instructed .tss,P.t ,lease a,L`fkrr TR.
lands and property sold for arrears
of taxes, for the Township of Hay,
solicitor to be notified immediately.
That application be made to the
Department of Municipal Affairs for
subsidy of one mill on the 1945 As-
sessment for Hay Township amount-
ing to $2527.50.
That notice be sent to the various
dredging contractors, George Rad-
ford, Blyth; Graham Bros., London;.
Yundt & McCann, Stratford.; Charles
Deitrich, Dashwood; Drury Bros., Ar-
thur; Henry Lawrence, Zurrca; call-
ng for tenders for the constriction
of the Alexander Drain, by-law No.
114, 1945. Tenders to be in the hands
of the Clerk by Dec. list, 1945.

recogn to of the support the Bank.

Village of Blyth won the plaque as
the highest urban district with Exe-
ter'second, and the salesmen of those
districts were also presented with
bomb fuses. The plaque for Zurich
and Hay West will be on display at
the Bank of Montreal, Zurich. The
local committee, of which Mr. Albert
J. Kalbiieisch is chairman wish to
greatly thank the many bond buyers
of this community for their splendid
support in malting this achievement
possible. It surely shows a fine pat-
riotic spirit. Mr. Kaibfieisch was al-
so presented with an admirable book
containing ,many photos of the sign-
ing of peace, etc., which he cherishes
very much.
OBITUARY
Dies at London
Word has been received here of
the passing at Victoria Hospital,
London, on Thursday, November 8,
after a short illness, of Spr. 'Horner
,Salmon, of the Canadian Army, of
hat city. Beloved husband of Helen.
Reiyl, and son of Mrs. Salmon and
he late Chester .Salmon, formerly of
Zurich, in his 27th .year. A private
funeral was held on 'Saturday, with
nterment in Siloam Cemetery.

Miss Dorothy McDonnell, a mem-
ber of a well known Hensall family'
passed away on Monday after a brief
illness. .Miss. McDonnell had spent
some years as a school teacher,, and
leaves Many friends in the district..
Surviving, are her mother;• Mrs.,
Charles McDdnnell, Hensall; two
sisters, Mrs. Edward Tasman of. Lis-
towel, and Mrs. G. V. Laughton at
Toronto. A private funeral service
is being held at the residence on. Wed-
nesday afternoon with Rev. R,..A.,
Brook in charge. Burial will fQI1iew
in llensell Union cemetery.
