A very pleasant aftermion was
spent at the RectoryBayfield on

Thursday last, when the W.A. of
Varna entertained the W. A. of St.
James, Middleton and the W.A. of
Trinity. Mrs: Colelough of tIroderich
Township who as delegate attended
the spring session of the Woman's
Auxiliary held in London, and gave
a very interesting talk on the work
of the W.A. in the Diocese of Huron.
The members of the L.O.L attend-
ed service in the United Ohurck at
Varna, Sunday evening last, Rev.
Reba Hern gave an address to a well
filled church. Several district lodges
were in attendance. A fife and drum
band from Woodham which headed
the parade, gave several selections
which were much appreciated.
In Police Court -
Goderich, June 28—Charged in
weekly police court with the theft of
20 pigs, Garfield Finlay of Turnlberry
Twp. had his case adjourned to July
5 to allow for further investigation.
Bail was fixed at $2,000. The pigs
were property of Andrew Mitchell,
Wingham. Two others are involved in
the charge and search is being made
•far them. The. theft occurred on May
7th. Hedley Prouse and Robt. Moles
Goderieh, TwP, pleaded not guilty to
charges of wilful damage to property
disorderly conduct and intoxication.
They were remanded on $400 bail to
appear at next week's court. Thos.

Hensall Coudcil Minutes
The regular meeting of the Village
Council was held on the eve. of
June 5th at 9 o'clock, after the Co-
urt of Revision on the Assessment
Roll of 1945 with all members being
present except Councillor Hyde. The
minutes of the previous meeting we-
re read and adopted.
W. C. Passinore and 0. Twitchell
appeared as a delegation from the
gasoline dealers and presented a pet-
ition signed by 6 out of the 7 deal-
ers or 85.7 p.c, asking the Council to
pass a by-law regulating the hours
for the sale of gasoline as Monday,
Tuesday Wednesday, Thurscay, Fri-
day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Satur-
day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on
Sunday one dealer to remain open
each Sunday alternately.
Motion, that a By-law be prepared
to meet the wishes as requested by
the petition.

walk in front of his property reques-
tiug the same to be repaired. Same
to be looked into by Council.

bons,- on Saturday, June 9th, at 3
o'clock for the wedding of Mary Ilia
Pear], only daugbter of Mr. and Mrs
Stanley Gan, to Elgin Glenn Snider,
eldest son of Mrs. Mabel.Snider and
the late Emerson Snider. The Rev.
Peter Webster performed the cere-
mony and the wedding music was
played by Mrs. Gladys Carswell. The
bride, given in marriage by her fath-
er, looked lovely- in a gown of ivory
slipper satin made on Grecian lines
and flaring into a fitted train. The
fitted bodice with appliqued panel ex-
tending down the length of the gown,
sweetheart neckline and long sleeves
tapered to .points over her hands, a
long veil fell from a coronet of lace
and satin and she carried a shower
boquet of Better Time roses and
stephanotis. A. double 'strand of
pearls was her only ornament. Mrs.
Susie Eilbreath, cousin of the bride,
s matron of honor, was gowned in
floorlength dress of sky blue taffeta
with Aril net skirt and matching
he•addressof shirred net and lace with
shourcreNength veil and she carried'
as matron of honor, was gowned in
Mona Taylor, as bridesmaid, wore a
floor -length gown of pale yellow net
over taffeta with shoulder length veil
and erried a bouquet of Talisman
roses. LAC. Jim Dayman, of Abbots-
ford, ]3.C., assisted as best man while
Ellwood Truemner of Zurich and
Gerald Dayman acted as ushers. Mrs
A. G. Vanalstyne sang wnile the
guests were being seated and also
during the signing of the register.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs,
Gall chose a navy blue crepe suit
with whit accessories and a corsage
of Better' Time roses, while the gro-
om's mother wore a gold suit with
luggage tan accessories and a corsage
of Johanna Hill roses. The bride's
gift to matron of honor and brides-
maid were silver bracelets and the
bridegroom's gift to the best man
and ushers were. leather wallets and
to the bride, a gold brooch and mat-
ching earrings. Following the cere-
mony a rece»tion was heldin the
church dining room after which the
young couple left on a wedatng trip
to Toronto, Niagara Palls and Buff-
alo, New York. The bride travelled
an'oxford Greg tailored. suit, with
White neeesSorios. On their return
