was rushed to Clinton hospital on
Monday evening were he had an
Operation performed for appendicitis.

Tavistock were Sunday visitors at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan

Lions Club have been visiting other
Clubs, ih recognition and extending
thanks for gifts presented to the
Zurich Club on Charter night. A-
mong those clubs visited are: St.
Thomas, Parkhill, Petrolea, Exeter,
Goderich, Clinton and Seaforth.
Mrs. T. H. Meyers has received
letters of appreciation from a num-
ber of local boys who are overseas,
thanking the Women's Institute for
the 'cigarettes sant them in the win-
ter time, following are the names of
those who wrote: Alvin Regier, Geo.
Grenier, S. Warnock, Vern David-
son, Harold Stade, Elzar Masse,
Donald Manson and Dave Meyers.

OBITUARY
Late Henry Zapfe
Mr. Henry C. Zapfe died suddenly
at his home in Brucefield Wednesday
last. He suffered a heart attack and
was dead before Mrs. Zapfe could
reach his skit. His death has shocked
the entire community, wnere he was
a well known resident for many ye-
ars, He was in his 78th year, and was
born in Bayfield. He farmed near
Blake for many years, retiring to
Brucefield 23 years ago. He is snr-
vived by his wife, the former •Diana
Lehman, four daughters, Mrs. George
Armstrong, Brucefield; Mrs. 'toy Con-
sitt, Kippen; Mrs. Ronald McKenzie
and Mrs. Ben Kaiser, Detroit; two
sons, Abe of Brucefield and Austin
of London; four sisters, Mrs. R. Shaw
Detroit; Mrs. Cyrus Green, Grand
13end, Mrs. H. Kennedy, Point Ed-
ward, Mrs. Wm. MeClinchey, Holm-
esville; three brothers, Gus of Cass
City, Mich; George of Port Arthur,
William of Saskatoon. There are 11
grandchildren and two great grand-
children. A private funeral service
was hold from his home, followed by
a public. service in Brucefield t)nited
church. Interment was made in the
I3aird's cemetery.
