Mr and Mrs. Clare Meliek, of
Dashwood 'were Sunday visitors with
the former's father in town.
Miss Kathleen Hess, It.N,, or Lon-
don spent several days at her home
in town the past week.
Mrs. Ferd Haberer spent a few
days in London the past week with
her daughter, Mrs. Charles Pulford.
Pte. and Mrs 1VIcNabb of the East-
ern Coast are holidaying at the home
of the latter's parents, Mr and Mrs.
Norman Gascho.
Mr. Jack Haberer of H;uron.College,
London, is spending the Christmas
holidays at the home of his parents,
Mr and Mrs J. W. Haberer.
Mrs. Charles Carr of Newark, New
Jersey is spending the holiday sea-
son at the home of her mother, 14rs.
A. Turkheim and other relatives In
Zurich. Mrs. Carr made the trip
over by plane to Toronto.
Joined The Army
Mr. Bob Forrester, aged 18, son
of Mr and Mrs Wm. Forrester, has
joined the Canadian Army and will
leave on December 28th for basic
training at Pettawawa. We wish
Bob every success in his undertaking
IMr. and Mrs Leo iCorriveau, now
of Goderich, and formerly of the
Drysdale district, where they were
prominent farmers, having sold their
farm and moved to Goderich on
Monday of this week, were in town
on. Wednesday, and we are pleased
to learn that they will like it very
much in that lovely town. We wish
them much success, health and joy.

Home Economists Entertain Wives
The Wives and pre-school children
of .the faculty,, of South Huron Dis-
trict High School were entertained
at tea on Wednesday afternoon last
by Miss Anne Kartushyne and her
Grade 11 and 12 Home Economic
students. The classrooms was decor-
ated with lighted .candles'and Christ-
mas decorations. Mary Lou Fritz,
of Zurich, poured tea at a ttisble_at-
tractively arranged with lace cloth
and an original centre -piece of Christ-
mas greens, pine cones and candles.
Meanlhers of the class acted as a re-
•ception committee and served the

OBITUARY
Infant Dies
Funeral senvices were held on
Monday, December 21st for Suzanne
.Marguerite Mack, who died Friday
December 18th after • a short illness
in War Memorial Children's Hospital,
London. She was 3 months old.
Besides her parents, Mr and Mrs.
Bryce Mack are two brothers, -Steph--
en • and Philip. The grandparents
are Rev. A. 'M. Grant, London and Mr
and Mrs. W. D. Mack, Crediton. The
family have the sincere sympathy of
their many friends in their hour of
!bereavement.
Late Thomas Snowden
Thomas Mathew •Snowden, beloved
Husband of Oliva Penhale, died at
his home, Blue Water Highway three
miles north of Drysdale on Saturday
December 19th 1953 in his Soth year.
Mr. •Snowden had (been ill only a
few days, having taken a had cold,
and with complications setting in he
went very quickly. Being a very
prosperous farmer, and known far
and wide as a raiser of choice stock,
especially in the breeding of sheep.
Surviving besides his wife is a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Russell Grainger at home.
The remains rested at his late resid-
ence until Tuesday Dec. 212•nd where
a public funeral service was held.
Interment followed in the Bayfield
Union Cemetery with Rev. P. Ren-
ner, officiating.

Church minister, who retired last
year because of poor health after 37
years' ministry died at the General
Hospital, Hamilton, Ont. early en -
December 7th, 1953. He was' the son
of Mrs. Rembe and the late Rev.
Henry Remlbe, 'Minister of St. Paul's

Born in Montreal, he received his8-furrow Plosv on rii.bb.ers,
early education in Hamilton and
graduated from Waterloo Seminary.
His first call was the St. Peter's Luth-
eran Church in Zurich, Ont., where
he served for 12 years. Going from
there to Winnipeg Man., where he
served for 10 years. During which
time he was the head of the Canadian
Lutheran Immigration Aid Society
at its inception. From there, after
illness, he was called to Massey, Ont.
where he served untill poor health
caused retirement. During the time
in Massey, he was •also Chairman of
the Massey •School Board, and instru-
mental in the erection of the new
elementary school.
The service was held at St. -Paul's
Lutheran Church, Gore and Hughson
Sts., Hamilton, at 2 o'clock, Wednes-
day afternoon, Dec. 9th. A member
of the church since his arrival in
Hamilton. • Of late he resided at
527 King St. West, Ham+ilSon, Ont.
He is survived by his widow, the for-
mer Wilhelmina Leist, two sons, Karl
and Glenn, both of the city; four
sisters, Mrs, A. W. Clappison, Mrs.
Herbert Wilson, Mrs. Harry Ferris,
all of Hamilton, and Mrs, 'William
Myers of Harriston, Ont. !Rev. F. C.
Mueller officiating and Rev. Jacobi,
President of The Canada Synod prea-
ching the sermon. Rev. Voitcus, as-
sisting. Burial in Woodland Cemet-
ery.

'Maurice Hirtzel, Creditor,, was el-
ected president of the Huron 'Here-
ford Association for 1954, st the
:annual meeting held in Clinton re-
cently. He succeeds Frank Thompson
of Wingham, who presided at the
annual meeting, and was master of
ceremonies at a banquet held in the
Ontario Street United Church.
