SYNOD MEETS
The Evangelical Lutheran Synod
of Canada field its 91st annual con-
vention in St. John's Lutheran
Church Waterloo from June 9th to
1112th and received the inat report
of its retiring president, Dr. J. H.
Reble, Kitchener, who has headed
the organization for 28 years. High-
light of the • report was a "table of
Progress" which showed that in that
time the Synod has nearly doubled
in size. In 11:1.25 there were 92 con-
gregations with 26,860 baptized me-
mbers, today 118 Churches ctaini
45,905 members. Givings -for all pur-
poses jumped from $208,166 in. 1925
to $1,3112,054 fio:r the past year. rhe

Huron County. Council let canrract
frog an $348,472 addition to the Co-
unty Home, at Clinton. The contract
was let to Ellis -Don Ltd., London.
Welfare will pay half the cost or the
construction. The council budgeted
$50,000 for it in 1952 and $50,000
in 053. The b•alanlce will be levied
in 11954.
