to his hands and face, trying to put

6 ing room, Ronald, an elder son, was
• roused by the screams of the burn-
t ing youth. He put out the flames by
twrapping the youth in rugs .and .beat•
p, ing the •(:lames with his hands. Father
• and son were taken to the hospital in
0 an ambulance. Hospital attendances
e said the youth's body was badly
• burned. He died shortly. after being
• admitted to Hospital. The rather''s
�•• condition is reported fair. Mrs. Ma-
haffy was away, at the home of her
mother's at the time of the explosion
She is a sister of Mrs. Bert Corn -
forth, living on the Town Line, near
Hillsgreen, who with his family l^:ft
on Sunday morning^ for Toronto. The
funeral was held Wednesday at 2 p•
m. interment at Prospect Cemetery.

of Hensall, sat down to. a banquet
in celebration of completion of 50
year= ,pf married life, and the beg-
inning of a new year. Born 75 years
ago in Stanley Township, Mr. RWeh-
aidson is a son of Mr and Mrs. Win.

Elizabeth Reichert, was born 59
years ago in Hay Township, daugh-

Had Anniversary
Mr and Mrs John T. 'Mitchell, es-
teemed residents 'of Hensall, celeb-
rated their 60th wedding anniversary
by holding open house to their fri-,
ends and relatives. The reception was
fo.11lowed by a family dinner the fo.i.•-
lowing day. Their marriage was sol-
emnized in December. 1891 at the
home of the bride's parents, Mr and
Mrs. Johp. Rice, in Hibbert Twp.They
spent their honeymoon in Toronto,
Oshawa and Montreal. They recall
that, driving to the train at Dublin
station on their wedding day ttley
noticed farmers plowing, the weath-
er being exceptionally mild and the
ground. clear of snow, Upon their re-
turn they settled on the gro,:n's Carm
in Tucker.snnith Twp., where they con
tinned fairning until about 2t5 years
ago retiring to. Hensall, Mr. Mitch-
ell is in his 85th year and Mrs. Mit-
chell in her 81st, 'Both enjoy good
health and able to attend church. Mrs
Mitchell was:- the :former Elizabeth
Rice, and the couple have three dau-
ghters .and a son. all residents in the
community: Mrs. Jarvis Horton,
(Olive) ; Mrs. Melt'. Tractuair '(Edna)
Mrs. Carl Stoneman (Gertrude) and
Stanley, who resides on the r.ome-
gery) S::ii'li, and Mo. Thomas stead farm. They have seven grand:-
