Many Attend First Meeting
Great enthusiasm was shown. in the
first called meeting of citizens of
Zurich and District last Friday ev-
ening in the -Community Centre, an
nearly every business place was rep_
resented as well as many citizens
and interested ones from the district.
It was not a very nice night to be
out, as one could hardly walk ow-
ing to so much ice. But the fittest
went out and braved the elements.
The meeting was soon brought to
order and Albert C. Kalbileisch was
appointed as chairman, and thing's
got under way. Mr. A. Y. McLean
of Seaforth was kind enough
come over and being president to the
committee of Seaforth during the
past 'summer when they had a
ilar event, -he was in a position to
give some very valued advise, which
was accepted and will in time be nu::
to practical" use. A final vote- or tne
go-ahead signal was given when a
showing of hands was called tor.
This was unanimous, and so Zurich
will celebrate it's long looked for
Old Boys Centenial this summer, be-
ginning Sunday July lst, .and run-
ning it over till July 4th, our Amer-
ican friends' national holiday, it
will be four big days for Zurich. with
something doing every day, and the
Old Boys and Girls some having tett
the Village many years ago, are
asked to tell others about Lac big
event. 'Much more will be said in
the next few months, but m the
mean time we ask one and all to
let your friends know about it and
especially those at, a distance. The
.green light is 1,U \V an, and Zurich
do its utmost to weInne the
old boys and girls. A strong tont-
in!tte was appointed representing the
Village Council, Hay Township Co-
uncil Chamber -of Commerce, the
Zurich Lions Club, the Zurich Wom-
en& Institute,' Zurich Fall Fair, Vtc.
This committee will nominate and
appoint various committees as they
see fit and as required to have eve4,.
thing well organized. in fact there
is much enthusiasm and 'Zurich's big
day and titne tome to t reaI4,y
in the summer of 195(4 We hope.
