Six girls will be representing Huron County and they are Nor- ma Harper, RR 1, Clifford; Shirley Simmons, RR 1, Wroxeter; Lor- etta Connolly, RR 1, Dublin; Mar- ilyn Taylor, RR 1, Londeshoro; Donelda Lostell, RR 3, Kippen; Kathryn Hicks, RR 3, Exeter. Zirke, Carl Schnell, John Dabus and Elmore Deters. Mrs. William Finkbeiner, Strat- ford, spent a few days last week in the village. Miss Dorothy Truemner left on Monday morning to assume her duties as nurse at Toronto, Mr. T. L. Wurm, general mer- chant, is selling windproof and waterproof raincoats at only $15 each. A number of gypsies travelling by auto passed through town the other day. Mr. John Laporte was a mem- ber of the delegation which wait- ed on Sir Adam Beck on Thurs- day of last week re hydro radials for Huron County. Mr. W. H. Pfile and sister Pearl, Mrs. A. A. Weber and son, and Mrs. Roland Geiger and son visit- ed relatives in Listowel, Elmira, and other points for a few days last week. Edighoffer, Ralph Krueger, Carl Oestreicher, Ruth Church, Milton Dagg, and Mrs. Herb Neeb are this Thursday at- tending the Evangelical Sunday School convention in Sebringville. Pte. Norman Fleischauer of Camp Borden spent the weekend with his wife and daughter Mar- ion. Mr. Herbert K. Eilber, of Cred- iton, who for the past ten years has been clerk and treasurer of Stephen Township, has resigned his position, owing to illness. The parsonage of Ontario St- reet United Church, Clinton, was the scene of a pretty wedding, when Leona Grace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Orval Rapson, was united in marriage to Clare Gor- don McBride. Mrs. Milton Oesch and daught- er Donna have returned home af- ter a two week visit with the for- mer's mother near Desboro. Mr. Charles Fritz and Ward and Mr. William O'Brien are en- joying several days in the north- ern country on a fishing trip. 25 YEARS AGO JUNE, 1934 Mr. Norman Gascho, accomp- anied by Rev. E. Burn, motored to London on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Heist, Detroit, were weekend v!Sitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Klopp. Sunday afternoon was a big day in St. Boniface R.C. Church in Zurich, when the Holy Name Soc- ieties of Zurich, French Settle- ment, Mt. Carmel, Biddulph and Parkhill gathered here for their annual celebration. While leading a cow with a small calf from pasture Arthur Weber of the Bronson Line was gored by the cow, and but for the timely arrival of a neighbour might have been seriously injured. A serious accident occurred to Master Carl Wein of Dashwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wein, on Saturday afternoon while play- ing stepped on a bottle cutting an artery and a nasty gash in his foot. Last Saturday afternoon while returning home from Hensall your publisher had the opportunity of seeing two beautiful fawn deer in the little swamp east of the Parr Line. 10 YEARS AGO JUNE, 1949 Rev. E. W. Heimrich is attend- ing the Conference of the Luther- an Church held this year in Ham- ilton. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Parke and children are on a trip to Mon- tana by motor car. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Martindale and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ducharme spent a day in Port Huron and Sarnia. The Zurich Owl's Club had an enjoyable journey through some parts of Michigan over the week- end. Mrs. William Hay left to spend some time with relatives and fr- iends in Manitoba and other parts of the west. A new burglar alarm system has been installed in the Bank of Mon- treal in Zurich. This is the very Latest contraption of its kind. Mr. and Mrs. William Hey, Mr, and Mrs. Philip Fassold and Mr. Louis Rader, all of Dashwood, were Friday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steinback. Elgin McKinley for the Pro- gressive Conservatives and A. Y. McLean for the Liberals, are busy getting ready for the Dominion election next week.
