A short program followed. Group 3 put on a skit, "The Ch- ristmas Tarantula." Mrs. Kenneth Keller gave a reading about the Christmas angels. Closing devot- ions consisted of the Christmas story and carol singing. Group 1, with Mrs. Ervin Dev- ine convener, assisted with the el- ection and served Iunch. Pastor and Mrs, Zorn were presented with a gift from the aid. Dashwood Merry Maids The sixth meeting of the Dash- wood 4-H Merry Maids was held at the home of Helen Rader, with Walther League The Walther League of Zion Lutheran Church held their meet- ing on Tuesday, December 16. The toic, "The United Word" was taken by Brenda Becker, Ron- ald Merner, Ruth Restemayer, Ross Miller and Ruthanne Rader, assisted by the pastor. The leaguers have been busy making new articles and painting them to add to their Christmas scene erected on the Church lawn. Their Christmas party will be held on Monday evening. Rabies Clinic The clinic held in the Firehall on Wednesday morning was well attended. 106 dogs and 20 cats were treated. One thing noticed was that the big dogs made more fuss that the little ones. Blackbush school, with teacher Stanley Haist, held their Christ- mas program last Tuesday even- ing. LADIES AID ANNUAL (intended for last week) The Ladies Aid of Zion Luth- eran Church held their combined annual and Christmas meting last Wednesday with 41 present. The card secretary reported 43 cards sent during the year. The treasurer reported total receipts of $1,707.81, with a balance of $120.97. For a mission project, the Lad- ies' Aid will make breech cloths for New Guinea, and also send a quilt. Everyone is to save used stamps for mission work. A new Lutheran hymn book is to be pres- ented to the county home at Clin- ton. A Christmas gift of $5 each is to be given the two students from this church at Concordia College, Edmonton. Following the 4-H pledge, the girls divided into groups and trade corn bread, ginger bread and rais- in bread, also ice -box ginger snaps. Mrs. Kuntz discussed essential and additional ingredients of flour mixtures as well as classes of flour. The girls divided into groups. and planned menus. Mrs. McAllister discussed the- achievement day, and looked at the record books. Home assignment was to try two recipes in members' pamph- let; complete record book and write club story. Roll call will be to hand in record book. The next meeting will be held at Lynda Tie - man's some time after the new year. The hostess served beverage. and the dishes made.
