Evangelical U.B. Church W.S.W.S.
The regular meeting of the
E.U.B. Ladies Aid was held with
the membership and attendance
group and Mrs. Harry Hoffman
convener. Other members are, Mrs.
Wallace Becker, Mrs. Harold Kell-
erman, Mrs. Charles Snell and
Mrs. Don Gaiser. They had as their.
topic "Missions" and the work of
missions.
The president, Mrs. Carl Oest-
reicher presided for the business.
Donations of $10 each are to
be sent to "Care", War Memorial
Children's Hospital, Woodeden, and
Springhill Disaster Fund. Quilts
are to be made and donated to
War Memorial Hospital. The child-
ren's aid, Goderich, is to be cont-
acted to determine Christmas gift.
A dinner is planned for the hus-
bands in December. Clothing was
packed for overseas relief. Old
nylons and old spectacles are to
be brought to the December meet-
ing for missions.
Surprise Stork Shower
Mrs. Howard Klumpp was host-
ess Friday night for a stork show-
er held in honour of Mrs. Lloyd
Beaver: The hostess showed pictur-
es of local interest.
Mrs. L. H. Rader is spending a
week in Zurich with her daughter
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Prang.
Miss Erma Wein, Clinton, spent
the weekend with Mrs. Herb
Wein.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ketzman and
son, Detroit, spent the weekend
with Mrs. Cora Gaiser.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Maine and
girls, Kitchener, spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold
Miller.
Mrs. Mary Martene is confined
to her home with a' slight stroke.
Dashwood Merry Maids
The third meeting of the 4-H
Merry Maids was held Saturday at
the home of Mary Jane Hoffman
with nine girls present, and the
leaders, Mrs. Sid Baker and Mrs.
Arnold Kuntz. The meeting opened
withh the 4-H pledge. A letter was
read from Mrs. Shirley McAllister,
the home economist, saying she
would be present on December 13.

Mr. and Mrs Elgin Fassel, Mil-
waukee, are spending a week with
Mr and Mrs. Thomas Westlake and
other relatives in this vicinity.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fry, Det-
roit, Michigan, are spending a few
days with Mr. and Mrs. E. A.
Westlake, and Mrs. and Mrs. Tho-
mas Westlake.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dunn, Jr.,
called on Mrs. J. Dewar in Sea -
forth Hospital on Sunday after-
noon.
Miss Joyce Greer, Goderich, sp-
ent the weekend with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Greer
Miss Kathleen Talbot, Stratford
Teachers' College, spent the week-
end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Talbot.

Surprise Birthday Party
The staff from the ' Officcrs'
Mess, RCAF Station Centralia
pleasantly surprised Floyd Wein
on the occasion of his birthday
when they gathered at his home
last Monday evening.
Ladies Aid
The regular meeting of Zion
Lutheran Ladies Aid was held in
the church basement Wednesday
evening with the president, Mrs.
Milfred Merner presiding.
A quilt donated to the Aid will
be given for relief purposes. Mrs.
Leonard Schenk reported on Sy-
nodical affairs and also the Christ-
ian Growth Institute held at Strat-
ford when six members attended.
Several cards of thanks and do-
nations were received.
It was decided to make the
group for each month be respon-
sible for keeping the kitchen in
order.
The annual meeting and Christ-
mas program will be held next
month with donations for missions
rather than an exchange of gifts.
Taking as his topic 1 Corinth-
ians 16: 2, "upon the first day of
the week let everyone of you lay
by him in store as God has pros-
pered him". Pastor Zorn dealt
with "Christian Stewardship". Fol-
lowing closing devotions Group 4,
with Mrs. Herb Wein as convener,
showed the film, "L.W.M.L."
OBTTUARY
Mrs. J. Armstrong
Mrs. John Armstrong passed a-
way in the Scott Memorial Hos-
pital, Seaforth, on Monday, Nov-
ember 17, 1958. She was the form-
er Mary Mabel Moffat, and was
in her 66th year. Her parents
were the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Moffat.
Mrs. Armstrong was a faithful
member of Goshen United Church.
Surviving besides her husband
are: one daughter, Mrs. Garnet
(Dorothy) Mousseau, Hensall; six
sons, Allan, Varna; Kenneth, Mon-
treal; Leslie, Bayfield; Floyd, Zu-
rich; Ronald, Woodstock and How-
ard, at home. There are also two
brothers: Lawrence, Regina, Sas-
katchewan; Alfred, Kippen; three
sisters: Mrs. J. McBeath, Hensel].;
Mrs. Dan Kilpatrick, Leedale, Al-
berta; and Mrs. Vina Rathwell,
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Funeral services will be held
from the Bonthron funeral chapel
in Hensall on Wednesday, Nov-
ember 19, at 2 p.m. -Interment will
be made in the Bayfield Cemetery.
The Rev. T. J. Pitt will officiate.
