EU' Young People
Hear Interesting
Topic (at Meeting
The E.Y.F. of Emmanuel E.U.B.
Church met on Tuesday, November
11, with John Bullock in the chair.
After prayer by the pastor, Rev.
A. M. Amacher, the hymn, "More
.About Jesus", was " sung. Miss
Mary Finlay read the Scripture
lesson.
Mrs. K. M. Breakey presented
the topic, "Are you an overcom-
er?" Young people are always
hopeful that their team will win.
When our favorite team does not
win, we are glad if it has been
a clean game. Joseph of the Old
Testament determined that he
would be an overcomer, because
he had God on his side. He would
be a team captain today.
The Jewish people believe in in-
dividual personality. They were to
make the best of every situation,
and leave the rest to God. Joseph
was innocent, pure and without
patience. We dislike people who
put on an act. He had a right
to be frank for he had nothing
to hide. Joseph's brothers hated
him so much that 'they sold him
into slavery. Jesus was hated by
the religious leaders of His day.
In a sense, we may crucify people
today by what we say and do. It
is not easy today to be pure, but
we can be overeomers in spite
of criticism. Evil thoughts are the
same as evil deeds in the sight of
God.
Joseph was an overcomer be-
cause he was so patient. Jesus
wondered why His disciples were
so slow to understand Him. Jesus
was patient in trials beyond our
concept. We may not have all we
desire. You overcome by placing
all things in the hand of God:
Joseph was an overcomer be-
cause he was forgiving. Forgive-
ness is the strongest way of in-
fluencing others. Forgiveness is
necessary if we want God to hear
us. God will make everything
right. Joseph was an overcomer
because of purity, patience and
forgiveness. Through Christ you
can overcome all, if you have pur-
ity, patience and forgiveness.
The president, Miss Elizabeth
Finlay, took charge of the busi-
ness. Mrs. Milton McAdams thank-
ed the committee in charge, and
also for their support in the enter-
tainment of the Luther League.
Mrs. George Bullock acted as pia-
nist for the meeting.
