Leaguey Rall Held in St. Peter's Church
Full Afternoon and Evening's Program
On Sunday, November 9, the
annual fall rally of the Stratford
Conference was held in Zurich
with the local Luther League as
host. Registration of the leagues
got under way at 2 p.m., with six
members of the local league, Mar-
ion Turkhiem, Glen Thiel, Ruth
H a b e r e r, Marion Fleischauer,
Hugh Clausis and Sharon Block,
on the reception committee.
The opening devotions were con-
ducted by the Rev. 0. Winter,
after which as pastor of the ch-
urch he welcomed the Luther
Leaguers to Zurich.
Ron Schmidt, Milverton, presi-
dent of the Stratford Conference
took over the afternoon session.
President Louis Willert of the Zu-
rich Luther League was asked to
welcome the leaguers on behalf of
the local league. Harold Stade,
vice-president of the Church Coun-
cil was called upon to give a word
of welcome on behalf of the con-
gregation.

represented and the total number
of Luther Leaguers present was
117.
The leaguers all went down to
the church basement for supper,
where a very lovely meal was ser-
ved by the Ladies Aid. Between
the main course and the dessert
Mario Turkheim and Ron Klopp
led everyone in a sing -song. There
was another sing -song later and
a skit presented by the Stratford
Luther League.
The president introduced the
guest speaker for the afternoon,
Professor Teigen, Waterloo Col-
lege, who gave a lecture about
"Satan". Following the lecture the
leaguers were divided into five
groups and put into five different
sections of the church. Each group
was headed by a pastor and Prof-
essor Teigen. President Ron Sch-
midt called the leaguers hback intoere o
a general assembly,
group reported what they had been
discussing and the conclusions
they came to, if they did, and oth-
er leaguers asked questions about
the discussions.
After the discussion period, the
president called on Carol Kreutz-
camp, Hanover, Luther League of
Canada representative, who gave
a report of the activities going on
in the L.L.C. After Carol's report
the president asked for the report
of the registration committee, at
which time Marion Turkheim re -

The evening service opened with
the singing of hymn "Sun of My
Soul, Thou Saviour Dear". The
guest speaker was pastor Albert
Datars, Tavistock, who used as
the theme of his sermon,the
theme of the rally day,
and Youth" The service closed
with the Lord's Prayer, benedic-
tion and the singing of the Lu-
ther League Hymn "0 Christians
Leagued Together".

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary met
in the Legion Hall last Tuesday
night for their November meeting,
presided over by Mrs. William
Brown. Mrs. Isabella Skea was
initiated into membership, and ap-
plications were received from Mrs.
Jessie Cameron and Mrs. Marion
Wasson.
After the evening service there
was another hour of films and fel-
lowship.

rally with the benediction and the
hymn, "Blest Be the Tie That
Binds Our Hearts in Christian

and doughnuts were served to
those taking art in the parade on
Remembrance Day.
Highlights of the 28th conven-
tion of the Ladies' Auxiliary to
the Canadian Legion was held at
the Royal York, Toronto, were giv-
en by Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Bayn-
ham, who attended as delegates.
The Legion Auxiliary is mak-
ing plans for a Christmas party
for the members and the children
of the veterans.

Father Kelly officiated and the
organist of the church played the
wedding music,

the bride wore a floor -length gown
of white lace with matching jack-
et and lily point sleeves. A match-
ing half -hat, sequin trimmed held
her short veil and she carried a
cascade of red roses and white
carnations.
Miss Barbara Moore, Exeter, as

bouffant skirt and short sleeved
jacket. She carried a bouquet of
pink carnations.
George Eisenschink, Exeter, was
best man and Clifton Moore, Ex-
eter, ushered.
A reception and dinner was held
at Armstrongs' Restaurant, where
the bride's mother received in a
princess -line tweed flecked rayon
in mid -blue with white accessories
and pink rose corsage. A reception
and dance was held in the even-
ing in Crediton Community Hall.
The young couple will reside on

The Girl Guides held their reg-
ular weekly meeting last Thurs-
day, starting out with the horse-
shoe formation, the Queen, a pray-
er, and the Guide's Promise.
The girls went to their patrol
corners and studied their second
hand. The meeting ended with
taps. The next regular meeting
will be held in the Town Hall
this Thursday night.
