Last Monday, this young woman arrived at the CNIB Sudbury ofitlice to begun duties as a hoarse tear in that district, Life had not made it easy for Mary. She had arrived in Canada (roan Hollianld only months before the tragic accident. Her knowledge of E'n)glish and her acquaintance with Canadian customs was limit- ed. But she began to attend the Ontario School for the Blind at Brantford and it was only a few months before determination and courage gaive her a mes'tery of English, Braille, typing and acad- emie work that other students found hard to matclh. Choosing a career was not a difficult decision. Before attend- ing tlh:e school for .the blind, Mary received concentrated instruction from Miss A:my Lamrnie, Hensall, CNLB harne teacher in the Lon- don &Amit. "I think I wanted to be a home teacher myself ever since there', Miss van der Vloet said. "Now I'm teaching the same things that I myself leanned just a few years ago." Mary's wank is one of .the many servlices supported by contributions to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. The CNIB is now conducting its annual appeal for funds lin Huron County. Contri- butions may be sent to the local campaign chairman John Bannist- er, Zurich, or to the CN'IB camp- aign headquarters, Box 443, Lan- don, Ontario. • - TO WIT: By virtue of a warrant issued by the Warden of the County of Hu- ron under his hand and the seal of the said corporation bearing date of 12th day of August 1958, sale of lands in arrears of taxes in the County of Huron will be held at my office at the hour of 2.00 pm. in the Court House on the 9th day of December 1958 unless the taxes and costs are sooner paid.
