Zurich Citizens News, 1958-05-28, Page 9WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 1958 ZURICH Citizens NEWS Boy Scout News (By PAT O'BRIEN) At their regular weekly meet- ing on Wednesday night, the first Zurich Boy Scouts were honoured with a visit by the District Com- missioner, .Glen Lodge, Goderich. Mr. Lodge inspected the group, and gave a good report of: the bays. He told of how he will be expecting the Zurich Scouts at the Camlpo'ree thws fall,. Our sec- ond clasis 'Bandage Test was also studied at this, meeting. 'Ibis week I would like to tell you of what a Scout looks for- ward to while in camp. Firstly, they must be accustomed to hurry- ing in the outdoors. They have to know how to erect tents ar huts for themselves, hove to set up and light a fire, how to cut up and cook their own toad, and know how to find their way by night as well as by day do a strange country and so on.. My idea of ;going to camp is a great opportunity for the boys to look after themselves. At their hbcnesy if they want a drank of water, they merely go to a tap and get at, whale in the bush they must look far it. If a boy is Lost in a city he just asks a policeman and finds his way, but in a camp he must find his own way out. A cannp is what the boys and the Scoutmaster both look for- ward to, as being a time when they can live face to face with nature.
