Edith Kipfer Miss Edith Kipfer died sudden- ly in Eketer, on Saturday, May 10, at the home of her sister, Mrs. L. Desjardinie, She was the daugh- ter of the late Menno and Leah Kipfer, and was born in Hay Township on May 3, 1891. For 'the past five years she had been staying With her sister in Exeter. The body rested at the West- lake Funeral Home, Zurich, until Monday, May 12, when the funer- al service was heldfrom the• Zur- Ich Mennonite Church, with the Rev. A. Martin and Rev. E. Ging- eric officiating. WA Rally A few of the ladies of Goshen Woman's Association motored to Wingham on Wednesday, May 7, where the WA rally was held. They took part in the devotional period in the afternoon session. Those who attended were: Mrs. Allan Armstrong, Mrs. Roy Mc- Bride, Mrs, Robert Peck, Mrs. Russell Erratt, Mrs. William Hay- ter, and Mrs. Margaret Erratt. Mother's Day Special numbers at Goshen Un- ited Church on Mother's Day were: a 'reading "God Conies Fir- st," by Joan Elliott; a quartette, '`Mother's Prayer", by Richard Robinson, Roy McBride, Mrs. An- son McKinley and Mrs. Robert Peck. The organist was Mrs. El- mer Hayter. Rites of Baptism were admin- istered to Janet Louise, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McKinley and Marjory Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Keys. The Young People of Goshen and Varna met in Varna on Mon- day night. They are planning a Young People's Anniversary, pro- bably next month, but the date is not set as yet. Woman's Missionary Society The ladies of the Goshen Wo- man's Missionary Society enter- tained as guests at their special Thank Offering on Thursday ev- ening the ladies from Turners, Bayfield and Brucefield churches. Mrs, Bruce Keys was organist and Mrs. Elmer Hayter presided over the meeting and welcomed the guests. Mrs. John Robinson read the Scripture and Mrs. Ken- neth Parke led in prayer. Miss Clara Clark, of the Bay- field Society sang a lovely solo, "The Love of God," accompanied by Mrs. D. Kingsbury. Mrs. John McKinley, a life member of Goshen Society, reci- ted the old, well known poem, "Burial of Moses." During the offering, which was received by Mrs. Robert McKin- ley and Mrs. Kenneth Parke, Mrs. Clare McBride and Mrs. Bruce Keys played a trumpet and organ instrumental, entitled "Lead Kind- ly Light," with offertory prayer by Mrs. Elmer Hayter. Mrs. Jack Turner, from the Turner's Soc- iety, favoured with a mouth organ selection, entitled' "Greenlands Icy Mountain." Mrs. Elgin; McKinley was called on to itroduce the guest speak- er, Mrs. McVatti.e, B4ybh, who' took her message from the sixth chap- ter, St. John's Gospel. Mrs. Walter MacBeth accomp- anied Mrs. Gordon Richardson and Mrs. George Henderson, Bruce - field while they sang the beautiful song, "Whisper a Prayer." Mrs, Robert McKinley thanked all the • ladies who had helped in any way with the program and Mrs. Mang- aret Erratt- pronounced the Bene. diction. About 90 ladies retired to the basement when a delicious • lunch was served and a social time was shad by all. The presidents of guest societies conveyed fir thanks; Mrs. Davidson, Bruce- • field, Mrs. Mice Lawson, Turners, and Mrs. Harvey Bohner, Bay- field. Rev. Daividson also expres- sed his thanks.
