Mr and Mrs Melville Traquair who
reside east of Hensall were pleasant-
ly surprised at their home Thursday
eve., 18th when some 40 relatives,
neighbours and friends melt to honor
them on the occasion of their 40th
wedding anniversary. Many beautiful
and costly gifts were presented to
the couple in honor of the event. A
social hour of euchre and ,erodkinol
was enjoyed and luncheon served.
Guests attended from Ottawa, St,
Thomas, iSeaforth, Exeter and Hen-
sall.

Shock to Community—
On Friday morning, June 21st,
1957 this community was shocked
beyond expression of words to learn
.ef the sudden death of Mr. Frank
Denoomme in his 76th year. The
r 2, Zurich deceased was in fairly good health
considering This years. But :on the
previous day to his death he felt a
3,5, Zurich soreness in his chest which was con-
sidered only old age ailment at the
time.

ful husband and a loving father to

On Monday June 24th the remains
were taken from his late residence
to St. Peter's 'Church, then to the
adjoining eemetery for interment.
Mass was celebrated by the parish
priest, Father Poisson, assisted by
Father .Martin of Sarnia and Father
Monaghan of Zurich; pall bearers
•were his grandsons; the funeral was
largely attended, and from distant
points were: Detroit, Windsor, Cha-
tham, Niagara. Falls and as well
other points in the surrounding dis-
trict to mourn. his dosis. Surviving
are his wife, the former Anne Cha-
rette, seven sons, and two .daughters,
3:3 grand children and ('ill great grand
children, and as well many others,
as Mr. Denomnne had many friends.
We offer our deepest sympathy to
the bereaveed family in their hour
of grief.

Thedford were Thursday last visit=
ors with Mr and Mrs Fred Dacharme
also visited with the Ducharmes on
Sunday last were, Mr and (Mrs. Ur-
ban Ducharme of near Hensall.
Mr. Gerard 'Geoffroi of Walkerton
was a Sunday visitor with his moth-
er and other members of the family

London and is making satisfactory

Miss Ellen Gilbert is vacationing
with Mr and Mrs. Courtney Burm-
eister.
Mr and Mrs John Gilbert and Mr.
D. Fanguard ofStratford spent the
week -end with Mr and Mrs Courtney
Burmeister. The latter's parents
were Sunday visitors with Mr and
Mrs. Burmeister..

seriously injured,
This car was travelling north at high speed. The
driver, not familiar with the road, failed to make the
curve. The car crossed the highway and wrapped
itself around a tree.
The driver's wife was crushed to death and he was
badly injured.
When he recovered he waa charged with careless.
driving and his licence suspended.
This is just one of the countless accidents caused by
excessive speed. Think about this picture the next
time you start to press your accelerator past the
safe limit.
