THE CONCERT
The 'old story* of "mucic Toin''s
Cabin" was dramatised by' a travell-
ing troupe in the town hall, Zurihh
oft Tuesday evening to a well packed
hall of eager listeners who were ilii-
ious to know more about the old
slave days in the U.S.A. The var-
ious characters took their parts well
and it was very pathetic at times. to
see the escape of Eliza and Uncle
Tom being lashed for not obeying
his orders to lash others. At the.
close of the main play, the ushers
went through the crowd and, sold
tickets feAta an additional vaudville
and comic sketches, hillbilly songs,
etc. which followed. We must again
remark of the large attendance, far
beyond the expectations of the com-
pany putting it on.

HEAVY PERCH CATCHES
Hundreds of perch were caught at
the Goderich Harbor the past week.
The breakwaters were lined with an-
glers who were rewarded with bags
filled with the delectable fish. Har-
bor Master Bert MacDonald has been
doing a rushing business taking peo-
,ple out in his launch. With the re-
cent ideal weather conditions pre-
vailing, there is every likelihood that
the sport will continue if the weather
keeps nice. Men and women came
from many parts of the province to
enjoy a day's fishing at the lake.
Passed Away Suddenly
Leonard Fox, Lucan's oldest resi-
dent, and for 66 years a general
merchant, died at his home, he was
in his 91st year and had been about
his business activities until three
weeks previous. Was born just south
of the village. He had conducted his
general business since its establish-
ment 66 years ago, was a member of
Holy Trinity Church and had been
superintendent of the' Sunday School
for over 50 years and during that
period missed only one Sunnday's
attendance, due to ill health, and
during a four-month period spent in
Western Canada.
